I am really sick and in a lot of pain. when I got this bad a few month ago, my doctor perscribed me with Tylenol that has codeine in it. I never took it, because I hate drugs and whatnot and I know you can take codeine just for a high which I didn't want to happen.
Am I going to be really out of it if I take one? How does it feel? and what happens?

Codeine is very mellow. you wont get all high off of it. Its like strong Tylenol that helps relax you a little bit.

Calm down. 1 won't even give you slightest buzz. I took 4 today and I'm working and typing this answer for you.

Chill out. The doctor gave it to you for PAIN not to get high. People who take it to get high usually have to take a lot of them or extract the codeine out of it because too much Tylenol is bad for your liver.

Damn. You people scared of drugs freak me out. I'm bout to pop a Vicodin too.

I wait tables at night and have a herniated disc in my lower back. These drugs are the only thing that keeps me moving.

Don't worry. You are taking the medication because you are in pain. Its not going to have the same effect on you as it would on a pill pusher.

You never know how the medication is going to make you feel, until you take it. But since you dont use pain medication it may make you drowsy.

I would suggest halfing the pill (is it a pill or liquid?).
If you half it and you dont feel better in 30 mins, take the other half, and then you can progress from there in the alotted time frame the doctor has ordered.

But if the pain is ruling in your daily life, dont worry about the side effects. just dont do anything drastic after taking the pill.

I hate taking medicine too! Tylenol with codeine actually puts you to sleep. It allows you to sleep in peace with no pain. As long as you take it the way the doctor prescribed it, you should have no problems.

well, it just depends, codeine makes me sick to my stomach and dizzy. Maybe try half the dose to see how you feel. Or ask for something else for the pain. As long as you are seeing a doc for the problem they can monitor your reactions.
Hope you feel better...

it's like tylenol - just a little stronger. Not even close to other painkillers like vicodin. It's mild. Plus, if you are in pain, you won't feel 'high' - put may ease the pain some.

Everyone reacts differently to it. For me, it doesn't help a thing and doesn't give me any side effects. For other people they might get sleepy, little lightheaded/dizzy. What's worse? Pain or possibly being lightheaded?
