She is on omega fatty acid supplements that my vet gave us to stop the smell, but she still STINKS few days after a bath. What can I do? I bathe her every 2-3 weeks, I use a dry shampoo 2 times a week, and she still smells. She has no skin conditions or infections. What can I do that won't irritate her skin but will keep her smelling good? She is part of my family, and even comes to the office with me. I've noticed that seeing eye dogs don't smell that bad, and they are out and about all day every day. How are they kept smelling good without over bathing them?

Anal glands are fine, skin and hair samples checked for fungus, she eats Eukanuba (from the price, i'm guessing it is good... might be cheaper to feed he filet mignon on a daily basis)

If it is just me being over sensitive, what can I do about it without harming her?

Try going back to your vet and explain that the vitamins themselves are not helping the smell any. Ask if they can recommend or prescribe a stronger prescription medicated shampoo. I had to do this with my cat! Imagine how much that sucked. LOL. But usually if its not a skin condition, it may be a hormone imbalance in the dog that can be treated by your vet. Unfortunately sometimes these things are a guess and check game. Good luck.

p.s. Don't worry about the dogs food. Unless your vet specifically says that that food is not good for your dog or its ripped from the shelves in stores nationwide because its from China... its perfectly fine. MANY dogs eat the extremely cheap "oh my god" I wouldn't buy that ever!" food, and are perfectly healthy. Dog food and cat food commercials were designed to entice YOU, not the dog. Do you honesty think that a dog that eats cat poo is sitting there watching t.v. and thinking, I want dog food made with HUGE chunks of real chicken? No.

p.p.s. It is very possible that you are overly sensitive to odors. Not just your dog, but all around you. My dad is the same way. He just got into a ritual of bathing our dogs very frequently. Like once a week or so. And DO NOT pour fabric softener on your dog like someone below is telling you!

You have to find the source of the stink! What does your vet say is causing it? Pets don't just smell terrible for no reason. Be sure there is no underlying health issue. A change of diet may possibly help, depending on the cause.

Do other people think he stinks, or is it just something you notice? Maybe you are just more sensitive to the odor. Remember it is not a person, it's a critter and some odor is normal. Good Luck!

Take puppy to the Vet -- It could be a fungal infection OR it could be that the Anal Glands may need to be expressed (by the Vet only)

Both of those medical problems can cause a BIG stink.

Are you sure she doesn't roll in something to create the smell. I know our dog will roll in the most foul smelling area for some reason.
I have heard that if you bury the dog in sand for about 30 min that it will take skunk smell out ( I imagine if it stops that smell then it may help yours).

bath her as you usually do but usse a conditioner of downy fabric softner.
You put about an inch in a gallon jug ( I use a cleaned empty milk carton) fill the rest of the way up with water and us it as a conditioner leave on for about 1 minute and then rinse as you would witha conditioner.
You can now adays pick your sent.
I was taught this when I went to dog grooming school

My girfriends dog had a yeast infection in its ear. She (the dog) smelled for MONTHS and we couldn't figure out why. Found the infection, medicated it, smell went away.

Probably the Eukanuba.. Healthy dogs don't smell... Good quality food, fresh clean water.. healthy dog and there is no smell.. I would suspect the Eukanuba is your problem..

Eukanuba is NOT a quality food.. . Do some research.. The ingredients and the quality of ingredients are not good at all..

Try a rectal thermometer. If the temperature is more than 100 degrees she has a tuberculary melanoma. Put her to sleep. Otherwise she's fine use a dog deodorant.
