My hair is a little above my shoulders, and my bangs are very short, I need to pin them with bobby pins to keep them back. I also have many short and choppy layers. Also, do i need to dye it another color? It is black underneath, and bleach blonde on top. Dying it won't be a problem, I just need to know to know if I need to cut it?

DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR........I did when I joined and regretted it until it grew back. Get some good gel, bobby pins, and be ready for some flack with your drill sgt. Remember they can only yell at you and make you do some push ups. Easy Day.

I'm writing in regard to Army standards.

Yes you need to color your hair because it has to be a natural hair color.

As long as your bangs fall above your eyebrows you don't need to pin them back. I do however suggest growing them out. It's so easy to pull your hair back and put it in a bun.

If you do decide to cut your hair, get a cute bob and ensure your hair falls above the bottom edge of your collar.

Remember, you don't need to act like a guy or even try and look like one. Maintain your femininity. It is possible to be both a professional soldier and a complete female. I have managed to do that and have been in the army for 13 years and am currently a company First Sargent. Take care and good luck.

Contrary to what many people are writing they are not going to give you a haircut. If anything, they'll take you to the barber, yes barber, to get it done. You'll have to pay for it and they'll completely destroy your hair.

You won't need to cut it it's short already. But once you get to reception the drill sergeants will look at every body's hair if it's bright red or orange even some cases blonde the D.S will take you to the salon and have it colored most likely black or dark brown. You will need to use bobby pins for your bangs and if your hair is to short for a bun you will have to pin your hair away from your face.

You should dye your hair prior to going basic. It is considered exaggerated and non reg. Try growing out your bangs since you have to have your hair out of your face. Your hair should be above your shoulders and not touching your collar.

I love the hair though i want to die my hair like that. I love the blond on top!! I'm glad im not in any more to do things like that , but then again i miss being active duty

and who gives a S H I T whether her hiar is soo last year what a dumb a s s statement , she is joining the military not modeling for a fashion magazine WOW stupid

A lot of girls that I knew who went through Basic had wished they cut their hair before going there. I think the rule for women is "above the collar in the back and above the eyebrows in the front."
Ask your recruiter what the rules state then find a haircut that fits that description. You can keep it longer, but remember you need to put it up every morning and you are so rushed to get ready.
You can always grow it back out when you graduate Basic and go to school.

Wigs are also allowed in the regulations. As long as your bangs are not in your face and your hair is above the collar and a Natural color you will be fine. In basic trng, you don't have a lot of time for beauty and looking good. I would suggest that you have a professional cut it, the beauty shops on post tend to butcher trainees hair.

Don't stress over it, ask your recruiter for the real answer. Don't worry, they will not shave your head since you are a female (get used to being referred to as such). You will probably want it as short as looks good though, basic is hard and having to deal with long hair just makes it harder.

Congratulations on your choice to serve.

ull need to get it dyed back to a natural color and the length has too be so that it doesnt touch the collar of your uniform. longer is better because youre in a hurry a lot during bmt and if its long you can just put it up quickly

No not dye your hair. Keep it your natural color. If your hair it green atm, then dye it to something close to your natural color.

You don't need to shave it (and won't be required to) but you will need to wear it so that it is no longer than your collar.

Uncle Sam is glad to give you a free haircut. Worry less about your hair and more about succeeding at basic. Good luck.
