Neither really. Complete opposites would likely mean a lot of conflict and dissention. You need some common interests, views, and values.
Same person would be boring...I don't want to date myself, I want to date someone with some similar interests and values, but enough personality differences for us to be a good balance for each other (e.g., I'm shy so I don't want to date a shy person, I get along better with more of an extrovert).

I can just tell you that my wife and I although we have many of the same interests are in fact pretty well opposite of one and other. Makes for a more well balanced and mature relationship. In addition the conversations and communication that comes from this type of relationship is very open and we can learn a lot more of each other and our interests. After all each day should be a day of at least attempting to learn something new. But if both parties are pretty much the same then things could get stale or boring after a while I'd think.

It depends on the individual. I like someone who can teach me new things, give me a fresh perspective. The differing views is exciting, and keeps things interesting. On the other hand, it's nice to always have someone who will always support your beliefs, and stand by you. I've had both relationships, and both have their ups and downs.

i would say complete opposites. one of you maybe has done somethin interesting and fun that the other hasn't. to me it would be boring if you like the same hobbies or places to go. i like to try new things and be outgoing. you only get to live life once so why not make the best out of it.

You know, my wife and I are almost polar opposites. She's very analytical, smart, determined. Me, I'm very creative, go with the flow.
We've been married 20 years now and find completion in each other :)
Opposites work, at least for us.

not complete opposites but very opposite. so that you can get to like other things. because if everyone liked the same thing life would be beyond boring. but that's just my opinion
hope that helps =)

it depends on the [people and the compromises in the relationship. Opposites attract and people that are similar as well. there is nothing I have ever sen that dictates whether people are compatible as a whole, it depends on the two involved

me and my husband are both a lot a like but at the same time we are different I think it's good to have the same interests in things but its good to be different so you still have other things to talk about and you don't have to spend every waking min with each other. a nice middle is always good :) but that's just me

Actually, the first makes more sense. It worked for me and many others. But you might be the exception!

Neither. Total opposites do not have any glue to make them stick together. To date a mirror-image of oneself is not only self-absorbed, it's a boring idea.
