I'm looking for a good restaurant to take my boyfriend on his birthday, just the two of us. I'm not picky about the cousine. Italian, French or Indian would be great. Something romantic and I don't mind expensive. I need a place that will take reservations and actually have a table waiting for us (in the past I've waited half an hour after my reservation for a table to open up and it put a damper on our anniversary). Any suggestions? His birthday is a little over a month away.

Le Bernadin on West 51st Street between Sixth and Seventh - the food is incredible.

Another romantic restaurant is One if By Land on Barrow Street in Greenwich Village - live music - it's a beautiful space in an old carriage house - really lovely, but the food at Le Bernadin is better.

Hope he has a great birthday

Additional: Sfru, you are right - March has been closed for almost a year.

There is a small REALLY romantic French restaurant on 105th inbetween broadway and amsterdam but closer to broadway. I can't remember the name but you can try to google it or otherwise it is the only restaurant on that block! You walk down a few stairs to get to it and it is right next to the great bakery silver moon. A really great place with amazing service!! Happy birthday to your boyfriend!

Tavern on the Green if you can get in it is really romantic and has great food and after dinner you can go for a carriage ride. There is always the Four Seasons, Chanterelle and Blue Hill for excellent food and service. Hope this helps!
