I don't think those things are very acurate.

You can lose weight without sweating, and the pedometer is not really the reason, it's just a tool that is used to measure your activity. You burn calories just by standing instead of sitting, so movement will increase that.

Yes you can. Exercise is a very important part of loosing weight and making you stronger in other ways.
If you like counting your steps that is fine. If you like swimming that is good. Most exercises as long as you do not overdo them are beneficial. My own way is to walk 30 minutes a day for 5 or six days a week.
The other parts of loosing weight include a healthy diet, approximate even number of calories for each meal, portion control, and not cheating too much. The real secret is consuming fewer calories than you eat.
Good luck and keep it up..forever.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

a pedometer should be worn to guage an average daily step count. After that, to lose weight you will need to increase those steps. so, if you are walking on average 6000 steps a day, increase it to 8000 steps a day and you will start to see some changes. You have to increase your daily activity to lose the weight!

You would have to walk nonstop for a full hour to lose just 1 pound. You gotta do more exercises that get your heart pumping and your body sweating. Losing weight is a job, its not easy. Be committed to your goal.

i personally don't like the pedometer because it get annoying to see that you haven't done a certain amount of steps yet. you have to keep look at it to see how many steps you have done and how much more you need to do. I rather have something that shows me how many calories i have burn in a day, since we need to burn more calories than we take in our body.

yeah, it'll be slow, but it would work to a degree. You'd have to increase it from there at some point.
By increasing your physical exertion by 66% (4000 over 6000) your body will burn more "fuel"
Its the same logic in using ankle weights, more resistance over the same distance equals more consumption of energy...

Anytime you increase your physical activity while not increasing your calorie intake, you can lose weight. As long as you are burning more calories than you are intaking, you lose weight.
Even if you do not have the balance, increasing physical activity in beneficial to your body.

It's more as a guide to your general level of fitness. If you're walking 10,000 steps a day that's deemed a good level of basic exercise.
