Yes.

Have him wear protection and his risk reduces significantly.

Also, both of you should go #1 shortly after having sex. It'll flush your bladders out of all or most of any bacteria you may have exchanged.

Just to clarify, since there are some answers that are not completely clear....

"Can you give your partner a urinary tract infection?"

In a nutshell --- NO.

If YOU have a UTI, you cannot, via sexual intercourse, GIVE that to someone else. It just doesn't work that way.

Now, if you have sex, and get a UTI, this has more to do with not voiding (urinating) after sex -- especially in women.

In males, it should not be excluded the possibility that he has picked up an STD. Likewise, if engaged in anal sex, his risk for a UTI significantly rise, especially if he doesn't void after sex.

If the male has a UTI, and has intercourse with a woman, her odds of getting one have more to do with NOT voiding after sex than the fact that he has a current UTI.

UTIs are NOT sexually transmitted diseases, but they can certainly be a risk factor for having sex.

Hope this helps.

Sex can give a woman an urinary tract infection if she doesn't urinate after sex. That is just because of bacteria. That's the only way I know of it transmitting from sex.

either partner can give the other a UTI, especially if they do not maintain good oral hygiene and participate in oral sex. It is recommended that both urinate immediately after sex of any kind to flush the urethral meatus and clear any bacteria that may be there.

Usually your partner does not have contact with your urinary tract, even if you are sexually active.
