Well, the majority of illegal aliens in America are Mexican citizens. Where I live we have a high population of undocumented people but a low population of Mexicans... so I don't really think "Mexican" when I hear the term illegal, but I can understand why people living in border states would think that.
Carol - It must be a hidden racist agenda, right? It couldn't be all the negative impact that illegal immigration has on the country that make people oppose it, it must be the color of their skin! lol. Come on!

I agree with what you say. It's becoming a real problem. Many people have started to use 'illegal' and 'Mexican' as synonyms. Which is, of course, totally stupid.
Not only that, for them 'Hispanics' are only 'Mexicans'. No Mexican -or illegal, or Hispanic for that matter- is ever WHITE.
And of course, ANYBODY who speaks Spanish is an illegal person for them because they are all Mexicans that snuck into the country.
From their limited point of view, NOBODY who speaks Spanish is legal, white, or educated.
Well, I'm sorry, but illegals are illegals, no matter what the color of their skin is and what language they speak. That's what some people -ignorant people- do not seem to understand.

The majority of illegal aliens do come from Mexico, so it's an understandible mistake.
However, the prevelence of Mexicans among illegal immigrants is a function of the relative proximity and prosperity of Mexico, not of race.

I decide to look at another aspect on this question since people are bored of my normal answer. Illegal Mexicans made it aan issue. During the protest they flew Mexican flags. They come to this site and call us racist for being against illegal immigrants, saying we are only against illegal immigrants because most of them are Mexicans/hispanics.

Once again I will say some people really are concerned about immigration and the impact on the country but the rest of the people are just racist people who want anyone whos skin is not white out of the country so they pick on the hispanics. Racist are hiding behind the illegal immigration issue as a way to push their racists agendas!
Actually I have spent nights close to the border. I live in Houston which is a very big hispanic population and a very big illegal population too. I dont live my life in fear of what might happen.
I also want to say that I was a victim of a violent crime when someone broke into my apartment in the middle of the night and tried to kill me in my sleep. Luckily for me the neighbors upstairs were awake and heard the person break though the doors and call 911 before anything could happen to me. The neighbors were white americans but the person trying to kill me was also a white american. I moved into a neighborhood consired ghetto where about 80 percent of the pop is black and hispanic and I have not had any problems its been 4 years. If something is going to happen to me it wont be because of the race of the person it will be because the person is sick in the head. Where the person was born will have nothing to do with it.

since most of the illegals are from Mexico, go figure. But there are also illegals from many other countries. Mexico just has the lion share.

im german-american and though i am a natural born american... lol.... i grew up in germany... i am here legaly but i do have a bit of a accent... i some times get asked how long my visa allows me to be here lol
