Using too much water can make the rice sticky.

I generally use about 2 cups of water per cup of rice. Maybe a little less, but don't go below 1.75 cups of water per cup of rice. The rice will be less sticky.

Rinse rice in a strainer.
Bring water to boil
Add rice to water
Reduce heat to low to med-low... let cook 20 to 30 minutes.
Take off heat, rest the rice about 5 mintues, fluff before serving.

If you want the rice that separates into grains, then you should use Converted rice which is par-boiled rice (another word meaning precooked) - Uncle Ben's is a name brand converted rice.

Hi dear, this is the way how do you need to do if need to cook perfect rice, if you cook using your rice cooker, put water 3/4 inch higher than the rice level and cook it. It is automatically goes to warm level when water is finish, check whether you can chop the rice by your hand, if not put some more water and cook again, normally it will enough water if use 3/4 inch higher from rice level, make it in warm level another 15 or 20 minits, before severing. Purchase an Electric Rice Cooker. Could probably find one at Wal-Mart. the pot is pre-stamped with number lines. Measure the amount of rice with the cup that comes with the pot, wash the rice well, and fill water to the number that corresponds the the number of cups you've washed. It cooks the rice automatically. When it's done let sit for 10-15 mins. then fluff, ready to go! Easier than on the stove top and pretty consistent. Adjust the amount of water to suit your desired texture.

By the way, sticky rice is the only way to go! IMO

I always use Uncle Bens long grain rice. I use 2 parts water to 1 part rice. Bring the water to a boil on stovetop, with a little salt, and then add the rice. Quick stir, then put on lid. Use a clear glass lid...that fits properly. Then turn temp to med.low to let it simmer...but NEVER open the lid. Leave lid on tight, and with a clear glass one you can see when the water is all gone. Usually about 20 minutes. When the rice looks like it has little pot holes in it, and the water is gone..turn off the heat. Should be done!!

I cup of uncooked rice= 3 cups of cooked rice.(long grain)
Knowing that figure out how much rice you want. 2 cups of salted water brought to a full rolling boil. Add 1 cup of rice and stir, bring back to a boil, then turn down to a simmer and cook covered for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat, fluff and serve. Good Luck!!

I always use 2 1/2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. Bring to a boil and then put lid on and simmer for 20 minutes.
Try a non-stick pan..

1 cup of rice 2 cups of cold water.

First wash rice in a sieve and place rice and water in a microwavable dish . Micro for 10 mins take out stir, put back in for 5 mins, remove and rinse rice again. Rice is ready

Oven Brown Rice


INGREDIENTS:

1 cup brown rice
1 cup beef broth
1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a 2-quart casserole dish, mix together rice, beef broth, chicken broth, butter, garlic salt, and seasoned salt.
Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 60 minutes, until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender.

I always boil mine in a lot of water so it will keep moving for 15 minutes. Taste test to check and drain well. Fluff up with a pair of forks and serve, or add cooked veges.

Rice has a lot of surface starch. Rinse it in a seive until the water runs clear before you cook it, and it will be a LOT less sticky.
