That border has only existed in it's current form for a bit over a century and half, so no one has been crossing it for 'hundreds of years.' And, yes, as recently as the early 50s, there was effective policing of that border.

And, yes, things that have been going on for hundreds of years can be stopped. Slavery went on for quite a while for instance, but it was finally stopped. Hopefully stopping illegal immigration from Mexico won't be quite as bloody an undertaking as the Civil War.

Dream on? Hmmmmm. Well lets see. We could put the US Army on the border and give them authorization to fire on ANYONE who refuses to stop and answer their challenges. This would stop illegals and drug runners quickly. Not to mention the Mexican army's "accidental" crossings into the USA. This is America not Mexico. I don't care if people are Black White Brown or Yellow. If they are Americans they belong here. If not then they need to get out

They could if we mine the border and offer a bounty for each scalp brought in. I mean, whatever, the Mexicans gave money for people to kill Indians all thru the 1800's especiallt Apache scalps. Time to turn the tables I say.

Yes. If life becomes more miserable for them here, they won't come. We have to force employers not to hire them. We have to keep them out of our public schools. We have to allow hospitals to turn them away. We have to imprison those who steal identities. We have to stop giving their offspring legal status.

You and I know that the government should not allow this, but there is a great difference between what the government should do and what the government is willing to do.
