I have a little cousin who is a boy and is 9 years old. Im not sure if to decide if he is spoiled or not. These are the reasons why. First of all when I got my cell phone, he right away ran up to his mom (my aunt) and begged for a cell phone. 2 days later he got a motorola razor and 500 minutes. I have an old phone and 50 minutes. He has also gone through 3 ipod nanos. The first one he lost, the second one he left on his bedroom floor and stepped on, and the third one fell in the bath tub. His parents replaced all three. Then last week he left his phone in his pocket and it went through the wash. 3 days later he got a new motorola razor and an extra 100 minutes. He also has so many game consoles its sick. He mistreats them all aswell. He currently has 2 Xbox 360's, 2 PS2's, 2 PSP's, 1 Xbox, 1 PS3, and 1 Gameboy Advace SP. Then when he doesn't get what he wants or doesn't get his way he gets mad and won't talk to anyone and won't do anything untill he gets His way. Is he getting spoiled

Yes he is Spoiled and he is only 9 yrs old.I would not take anything with you that way you know it won't get broke or lost.My oldest Son had to Work and buy his own phone and pay his Bill,My Daughter is 15 and she does not have a cell phone yet ,if she goes somewhere she takes mine or her Dad in case of an Emergency.Same goes with my 11 year old Son.My Daughter's Ipod went through the washer because she did not check her pockets, and I did not go out and buy a new one.Kids these days needs to be more responsible.

Yes he is very spoiled and will only give his parents more problems and cost them more money in the future. He is actually past the point of being spoiled. He will never learn responsiblity. You are lucky that you have parents willing to teach you about life instead of handing you everything on a golden platter. Atleast you will know more about how to make it in life without your parents, he will always rely on them.
My sister spoils my nephew too which is why i stopped babysitting. My boys have to earn what they have and at 5 years old he has gone through so many toys including game systems and when he gets mad if they do say no he will pick up the phone and start calling family members trying to make them feel sorry for him. It is sad that parents can't see just how bad they are making their kids by rewarding such negative behaviors.

Yep, I know the type. Not to the degree you describe but I know a girl, now a woman who is nearly as bad.
I guess I'm with Tll. Either cancel or don't take anything with you that he could possibly damage. And, don't watch him in your home. Let him tear up his own stuff for a while.
BTW, the parents have built this beast, I wonder what they plan to do about his first arrest. Or second or third, you get the idea. This is a kid who is going to be a thief and/or robber when he grows up. Unless he can live on a trust fund for his entire life...

If you must babysit him, refuse to do it. It sounds like you do not know how to handle this child, and really it is not your job.
Having to go through a bad experience for money or just because it is your family is not good. But DO tell his parents WHY you refuse to babysit him. It will not kill them, and it will make them wake up for their own sins.
Just remember, it is not the little boy's fault! He is getting a distorted vision of the world through his parents. And believe me, he is the one who is suffering most.
Can you imagine having everything you ask your parents just so they won't have to deal with their child? Believe me, it is exactly that!
People who insist in having a child when they are unprepared to use their time to teach. For Christ's Sake...it's THEIR child! Can't they love him more and buy less? When I say "love" I mean showing it to the child in teaching them limits and preparing him for the future.
Can you imagine an adult like this? He'll suffer so much in life, it is threatening...Talk to them. Don't be afraid, they'll thank you one day. (Or simply let them read the replies here. I guess they'll understand)
Good luck! You are a courageous girl.

That is beyond spoiled that is abusive and neglectful-
It sounds as if the parents are buying there way out of being responsible parents -just what has all of this taught your 9 Year old cousin.
None of this sounds positive to me .
No responsibly for what he owns - and so much materialism !
A nine year old is not any where ready for the responsibility of a cell phone and such expensive belongings.
Sounds as if his parents are buying his behavior instead of teaching him.

It doesn't matter whether your cousin is spoiled or not. It is up to his PARENTS to raise him and none of your business how they choose to do it. You are simply jealous that his parents give him things your parents don't give you...Maybe you should have picked HIS parents to be born to rather than your own...
