Shiva mean "benign" or kindly. An earlier form of Shiva was Rudra, which mean "howler." Shiva is considered to be a deity of transformation and regeneration.

Brahma is sometimes translated as "The Immense Being." The word has to do with "expansion." In Hinduism, Brahma is the creator-god and doesn't really have a "cult" anymore. A related word "Brahman" is a neuter word that is a very important term in Hinduism. It is the name of the Absolute Godhead and means something like "the immensity" but the etymology is obscure.

Vishnu etymologically is related to the word "pervading" Another name for Vishnu is Vishvadeva --the all pervading god. He is the solar deity that sustains phenomenological existence.

Isa means "Lord" as does Ishvara. The words are usually used as epithets for Vishnu.

The Hindu "trinity" is Brahma, the creative principle, Vishnu the sustaining principle, and Shiva, the principle of transformation and regeneration. In Vedantic Hinduism, above this process is the "divine ground" "Brahman." Vishnu correspondes with the redemptive "solar deities" of other religions. Incarnations of God in Hinduism are classically regarded as incarnations of Vishnu.

Nanak was the proper name of an historical person who founded Sikhism and Mohammed is the proper name of the historical person who found Islam. I don't know the "meaning" of these names

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Hello. I am not familiar with the Hindu names on your list but I do know if Isa and Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon them.

Isa is the Arabic name for Jesus, the last prophet for Bani Israel (the Children of Israel). He was conceived in a miraculous fashion without a father and was born to the virgin Mary, upon whom be peace. He was made a prophet and was given a book, the Gospel, which confirmed the Torah that came before it and served as a final warning to Bani Israel. Unfortunately, they did not listen to him. The Gospel is lost; the books of the New Testament that go by that name are not the same as the Book that was given to Isa. Isa was taken up alive by God to await the time when he was to return, slay the antichrist, and rule mankind.

The final Prophet, one who was sent not just to a particular tribe but for all mankind, was Muhammad. He was given the Qur'an as the Book by which mankind was to live. He taught the same message as all prophets of God; belief in One God with no partners.

Muslims do not worship Isa or Muhammad. They were our teachers, so we respect them greatly, but they were human beings and they never sought for anyone to worship them, to pray to them, or to ask them for intercession. Muslims worship God alone.

I pray that Allah guides you to that which is best in this world and the next. Ameen.

Fi Aman Allah,

Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

These names mean G♥d even as our names mean G♥d.
Because G♥d said so and it's the will of G♥d.

For those that don't know G♥d because you worship the Bible, even in the Bible you'll find G♥d is correct by these words frequently heard but seldom believed, words by another manifestation of G♥d named Jesus.

John 14:20
At that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

For those emailing me about my blasphemy do I need to remind you that that's why they crucified Jesus? I shout it I live it I love it!
I am!
G♥d and I ARE one!

Vishnu is the preserver, Brahma the Creator, and Shiva the destroyer (not sure if it is their name or not, but those are their roles at least....I think...).
