i think jw's can disfellowship whomever they please and it's not all about sexual behavior.
it's a mean-spirited practice that likely does more harm than good. i mean, really, what if a family member got disfellowshipped? are you really going to not speak to them or be around them? what if you live in the same house?
see how lame this practice is - but the hearts of men...

You wont see statistical sources supporting such stuff. Even though the JW's are inveterate record keepers, you will not see anything like this come out. There are some who fornicate and thus are disfellowshipped. Most dont believe in 1914 or see some information about the false prophecies and leave as a result of that. They are marked down as unrepentant fornicators because they will not recant the notion that nothing big happened in 1914 like the JWs say. The fornication has taken place in the mind.
edit
To the JW's, Fornication of the mind occurs when you start reading historical Christian literature (stuff that disagrees with them) It has nothing to do with looking at women.

I would say the most who are disfellowshipped, it is usually because of fornication. Most of the ones I know have been.
But there are other things such as use of illegal drugs, abuse of alcohol, getting involved in spiritizm, smoking, stealing, loose conduct, pedophiles, homosexuality, illegal business practices, apostasy.
Of course, they would only be disfellowshipped if they unrepentantly practice such things.
I have seven in my family including brothers/sisters/nieces/aunt/cousins that are or have been disfellowshipped in the past all for fornication. Four of the seven are now reinstated and one other one is working on getting reinstated.
So yes, I would say that most are disfellowshipped for fornication.
edit: Those who have not been witnesses for 20, 30 years don't know what they are talking about. I personally have only known one person that was disfellowshipped for apostasy and that was back in the late 70's. Any of my friends or family were all for fornication. They want to think that a lot of people do what they have done, but the truth is that it is not the case.

Then why mention it. As much as I am against their worship I won't fall into slander which is the twin of gossip, and a violation of the Commandment of bearing false witness. You could have kept this filth for your own amusement instead of bringing it out in front of children you know are below age restrictions.
Why would you even read something called Achtung?
You need a mirror for that beam in your eye I ain't touching it.

Well most get disfellowshiped because of immorality & Apostacy (speaking against the watchtower) but you will never find hard evidence about it. If you know people in the congregation word -gossip gets around about what they did!
Everyone in the local congregation get's the standard notice from the elders that "Name...... is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" (they don't even use the word disfellowship anymore for legal reasons)
I believe most are repentant but are held back depending on who the local elders are. If you have a nice body of elders they will let you back very quickly but if you have horrible, corrupt elders you will never be re-instated back to the JW's or it may take many years which has nothing to do whether you are repentant or not.

I'm an ex-JW but please note that I quit - I wasn't fired! Also, I do not hate JW's just because I am no longer one. It may have been the case in the 1960's that the main reason for disfellowshipping was fornication. I was around at the time, and there was an awful lot of it going about (I was merely an observer). However, that's over 30 years ago and things have moved on.
After 1975, thousands and thousands of JW's left the organisation when the promised end to this wicked system of things failed to arrive. Folks got fed up and voted with their feet.
I agree with a previous answer that the main reason for disfellowshipping NOW is so-called apostasy. That is, anyone who VOICES disagreement with the Watch Tower Society and dares to challenge the Governing Body will be booted out.
Oh, and I repented before Jesus when I realised what a miserable sinner I was and he forgave me. No need to go before a committee of men.
Edit: Fornication of the mind??????? Whilst it is true Jesus said anyone who looked lustfully at other woman had committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:28), what on earth does that have to do with disagreeing with the Watch Tower Society's theology?

The vast majority of people that are removed from the congregation have committed some form of immorality. In my area, it seems to be mostly teenagers, and they often find their way back to the organization as adults.

Yes, the majority of Jehovah's Witness disfellowshippings concern unrepentant fornication. That has been the case for decades, and Jehovah's Witnesses have candidly admitted as such.
Jehovah's Witnesses - Proclaimers of God's Kingdom (page 103)
[quote]
Jehovah’s Witnesses were not unaffected by the sexual revolution of the 1960’s. In fact, several thousand—a small percentage of their total number—had to be disfellowshipped each year, the majority for sexual immorality.
[unquote]
The Watchtower, February 15, 1993 (page 8)
[quote]
Although only a small proportion of Christians are affected, it has to be recognized that the majority of cases of disfellowshipping from the ranks of Jehovah’s Witnesses for unrepentant conduct unbecoming a Christian are related to some form of sexual immorality.

Unrepentant--yes, that's why he/she would be disfellowshipped.
Fornicators--unknown.
I don't know every1 else's business.
Keep in mind; that sex is Satan's # 1 tool
in misleading humans.
I would know, I've been there.

When I was a teenager, my own JW father had me disfellowshipped because he lied and said I was sleeping with my boyfriend. I never had a hearing, because I went off and got my own apartment and they disfellowshipped me on hearsay and in my absence.
As that was 22 years ago, it makes no sense for the org. to hold me in the same regard. I have since been married and gone on with my life. Today, I am a saved and sanctified Christian with my own ministry. I conduct a weekly Bible study at my house and am busy in my ministry for many hours each and every day.
That incident was more than half of my life time ago and since I was saved through my acceptance of Christ's ransom sacrifice a few years after all that went down, Christ's blood has washed away my sin. When God looks upon me now, He sees Christ's shed blood and not whatever sins I may or may not have committed prior to my salvation by Grace.
Apparently, humans have a much harder time forgiving than my heavenly Father does. I just don't understand how they can possibly think they are more qualified to judge than He is, but apparently they do.
Of course, now there is my other fault: I have found the truth of God's word and that the WT never had it. That makes me an "apostate" in the WT's view. For that, I am blatantly unrepentant and I wear the slam as a badge of honor, knowing that I am finally well pleasing to God now that I believe in the right Christ and in the right Gospel. I know that I have assurance of salvation and no org. can take that away from me. Surely, that is worth a bit of slander?
