I bought a new tv last year that has three video outputs (red, green, and blue) and two audio (red and white). The dvd player I have has two audio (the same and they work just fine), but only two video (red and yellow). Is there a component out there to fix the video conversion, or should I get a new dvd player.

FYI, my friend is letting me borrow his DVD player, so if it doesn't work, I can just as easily go buy a cheap dvd player without losing any money.

Almost all tv's should have a yellow (composite video) input. There is no red-yellow video input.

So connect yellow video output from DVD player to yellow input on tv, and match the audio R+L (red and white) and you're all set.

Take another look at your TV's input jacks. There should be a yellow video input jack that matches the yellow video out jack on your DVD player. All you need is a composite video cable to connect the two.

I'm not sure what the red video jack that you described is for. Usually red jacks are either the right sound channel or one of three component jacks like the ones you described on your TV.

The first link has a diagram showing the three possible types of connexions.

The second link describes s-video jacks. Does the red jack on the DVD player look like this? S-video gives a better signal than composite connections.

It's much more practical just to buy a new DVD player. Make sure the new one has the component (red, green, blue) video outputs. This type of connection will give you the best video quality.

Your TV has Composite video inputs and your DVD has only video output so you need a video to composite converter..
