It's like a woman having a hysterectomy. They take everything out. No. There is no chance of her being pregnant. Take her to the vet if you think there may be a problem. Good luck!

The simple answer to your question is no- she can't possibly get pregnant. Without a womb, there can be no kittens. However, I am worried to hear that she is expanding around the middle. I certainly don't want to over react to this, but I would advise you to get her straight back to the vet that spayed her, to ask if there is a complication, such as an abscess near the site of the wound, or possibly an infection. It sounds like there is some activity around the tummy, & very possibly something to do with her recent surgery.

I don't think it can be anything worse than that, because if there was any cause for concern whilst the spay was being performed, I'm sure that the vet would have noticed it whilst he/ she had her under anasthetic. OTOH, if she is not eating, becomes lethargic & or doesn't look right generly, get her back there as soon as you can. If money is an issue, then stop worrying. If there is a problem that is related to the surgery, it is up to the vet to make good his/ her oversight. And, if there is a fee, offer to pay it after the event, by signing an agreement to pay when you can. I'm fairly sure that no vet would turn you away with a sick cat that is ill due to an oversight on their behalf!
I hope all goes well. Please do let us know? Thanx in advance,

You don't say how long ago she was spayed but if you are sure she has been and didn't get her from someone who just told you she had then she's not pregnant. The womb and usually the ovaries are removed in spaying. Neither do you say how old she is!
I know it's hard but try not to worry, there are many reasons that she could be putting on weight or appearing to rapidly. Without seeing her even the most highly trained Vet would not try to diagnose her condition.
Wait and see is the only answer, I'm afraid.
Good luck I hope she is OK and if it is illness that she gets well soon.

We had a shop cat once that was spayed. We would take her to the vet and ask about her expanding stomach. We would get to work and she would look a little fatter and she kept getting fat, then one day she was thin. Did this a few times, the vet said it was a false pregnancy. She was just going through the motions even though she had been spayed. I hope for your kitties sake that is it and not a tumor.

Hope she gets better soon.

When a cat is spayed the uterus and ovaries are removed. So there is no chance of her being pregnant as long as it was done by a good vet and done correctly.

You may want to have her checked by the vet. Something could be wrong with her such as an infection. I would take her to the vet as soon as possible.

Everyone is right. It's not possible...at least, not to my knowledge. And if there had been any kittens, they would have aborted during the procedure.

However, I work at a vet hospital, and I make regular phone calls to check up on animals after they have a surgery, and this is not normal. She shouldn't be gaining weight, and a week after the procedure, she really shouldn't have trouble eating.

She may just be taking a while to heal, but I would definitely take her back and make sure the vet thinks she's ok. Don't change your mind about that.

One possibility is that your cat as simple worms. They can produce a pot belly appearance when she is infected. Simple cure is worming tablets and then she'll need flea treatment from the vet too as flea/worms is a cycle! PLus when a cat has worms it can eat a lot and therefore put on a few pounds!
If she has been spayed recently I would suggest returning to the vet jolly quickly as she might have some complications. I hope not!

There is no possible way that your cat could be pregnant if she had a spay procedure done. All of her reproductive organs have been removed. It is fairly common for them to gain a little weight around that area. Feel her lower stomach area. Is it soft and pliable or hard and warm?
If it is hard and warm I would be suspicious of an infection/ abscess. In either case she could be in dire straights and needs to be seen yesterday. Only and I&D with antibiotics will cure that.

Yes it is 100% effective. The growing could just be swelling from surgery. You should be taking her to a follow up visit soon, so bring this up to your vet. However, if you notice your cat is acting strange or any other problem, call your vet immediately. But no, she cannot get pregnant.

If she's spayed then she's 100% NOT pregnant.

When my cat was very young she had a big swollen belly and it was worms.

You should probably get her checked out though in case there's an infection in there. And to put your mind at ease

Well actually, my cat was nuetered and a while later, he got my female cat pregnant AGAIN! I don't know how, shes a indoor siamese cat... he was the ONLY male in the house...

With female cats, it is VERY possible that it is a false pregnancy. It happens with other animals too.
