He is 18 weeks, and I want him to be a attack dog. I am not using him to fight, I love him too much for that, But I do want him to be able to attack any strangers(other than friends and family) when I tell him too. He is great with other dogs, my mother has an poole and they get alone great. But when people comes over that he doesnt knows, he began to bark then run and hide. I dont want that!

First off,I dont think you want him to attack strangers you just want him to be protective of your home...am I correct? He is still very young, you do not need to train a dog that has been properly socialized and cared for to be protective of his home or family ...it will come naturally.keep him socialized with other dogs as well as people, take him to petsmart or places where he can get used to people he doesnt know coming up to him in a controlled atmosphere, let him grow up and please dont make him another "pitbull" with a bad reputation....we are fighting EVERY day to save this loving, loyal breed and need to make sure we do all we can to keep the media from having another reason to put them in a news headline.take him to obedience school and help build his confidence...

Are you a sack full of stupid??

What a terrible terrible idea. Unless you really know what you are doing in terms of training (which you don't because you are asking how to achieve this on YA), you are looking at dooming the dog to death when he bites the mailman, or the pizza delivery man, or the meter man, or the garbage man.

And then you end up on the news. And then everyone starts talking about pitbulls and BSL and thank you for being another statistic and another reason to ban the breed.

Do EVERYONE a favor and raise a sociable, sweet, I WOULD NEVER attack anyone pitbull. These dogs - as are many dogs - naturally protective of their owners. I don't think you need to worry much about someone breaking in. Just having the pitbull - even if its the sweetest pitbull ever on the face of the earth is a deterrent.

Please - throw this idea in the garbage and work on being an ambassador for this breed. Raise a beautiful example of what this breed SHOULD be known for - not an example of the terrible things people already think about this breed.

Why would you want your dog to attack strangers? If you love him you'd want him to be friendly, what happens when, or if he gets loose and attacks and kills a child or elderly person, the dog will be destroyed. Pit bulls can be the best dogs if you give them a chance, they are great family dogs I have one, and it's people like you who train an innocent creature to hate, and attack. Most owners are the problem, every time you turn around you hear about a pit bull attack, the owners should be going to jail for being s***** owners.

It's people like you that help produce the bad reputation for Pit Bulls. If you love your dog as much as you say you do, you would never have him trained to attack. Do you know what will happen to him if he gets taken from you for biting? He WILL be put down because YOU, the owner that he loves and wants to please, put him in that situation. Your dog will attack if he feels the need to when you're in danger, but you should never train him to attack strangers. If you love him, keep him as a pet and not a weapon.

I do understand the motives of having a trained attack dog and I do support it if it's done right and by a professional. However, for targeted breeds it's not a good idea. Even if your dog attacked on command and with a good motive it would give horrible and unjust press to the breed as a whole. The media is not above lying as I'm sure many an APBT owner, advocate and/or supporter has realized. If you were on a walk and someone tryed to hurt you and you told it to attack then they media would probably potray it as an old woman walking by who was mauled unexpectedly. Work on socializing your dog. If he needs to protect you he'll likely do it on his own. Work on giving him confidence through good experiences with people and basic obedience training, not knowing he could rip apart his enemies.

Train it as a watchdog.. I had a cousin who had a rottie who attacked on demand.. but that wasn't from training.. He did spend thousands on training and such but it was the bond between them were the rottie got a look and all my cousin would have to do is give him the okay.. other than that he was a sweet dog.. a two year old could (and has) play with him roughly and pull on his fur and mouth and he would just sit there.. Have your dog trained as a watchdog that gives a warning bark to strangers. It will save you the fines from the city/

You dont want a dog to attack people are you sick or something. A pet is a part of your family not a damn toy for you to train to hurt other human beings. You can get yourself in trouble as well as get your dog killed. Get some common sence before you get your butt in trouble. You train a dog to be mean and it will turn on anyone including you.

Don't teach your dog to attack strangers especially a Pit Bull.
If you meant to say that you wanted your Pit Bull to attack intruders he will. A guard dog will attack anyone that goes in your house without you letting them in.

Step #1 - Buy the BIGGEST insurance policy you can buy. If you can even buy it because most insurance companies wouldn't touch you with a 10 foot pole.

Step #2 - I've trained protection dogs. If you figure out how to do this, let me know. How is the dog supposed to know that person A is a stranger and that they should attack them, and that person B is your Uncle Harry that no one has seen in 10 years? Dogs are trained to react to threats NOT to people.

Step #3 - Let your dog grow up. So were you afraid of things when YOU were about 2 years old.

Your dog is still a puppy he will instinctively protect you when a stranger comes or someone tries to hurt you. You do not need to teach him any aggression training. When you dog bites the a girl scout then it will be your fault and not the dogs.
