My sweet doggy has 2 red sores, one on her hind leg and one in the front. At first, we all figured that it was just a minor wound of some sort and it would heal by itself in time. But they have lasted a few weeks and show no sign of healing. My mom and I want to take her to the vet, but we're afraid that the vet will take a look at my dog, give us some cream that won't even work, and charge us $300 without even diagnosing the problem. (That has happened once in the past when my dog had a ***** eye.) We have also put Hot Spots on the sores and put a gauze around it, but she showed no signs of improvement from that either. Any input will be very helpful! Thanks!

These are the links to my dog's sores:

Thank you to everybody who answered. I'm really greatful for all your help. I only wish I could vote all of your answers as best answer. I didn't know Hot Spots was anything more than the name for the medication I used on her. (I know, I know, I'm slow). But I looked up some pictures on google & it looks Hot Spots is what she has. I'm going to go to Petco and ask one of the workers to recommend me the best thing to use on her Hot Spots. And if that doesn't work, I'll definitely be taking her to a vet. Thank you all once again.

They are more inlikely hot spots. Your dog gets these if they have been knawing to much on there legs. If you go to a vet they might give you some sort of spary to apply daily. If it isn't the hot spots something undoubtly bit the dog

That looks pretty bad. If it hasnot healed or improved at all, you def need to take her to the vet. You dont want something to end up cancerous. Think of the pain she might be in. How would you feel having open wounds on you and no one takin care of it?
Find a different vet if the one you used before sucks. Call your local petsmart or petco and ask them to refere you to a good vet.

Where are these sores (cann't tell for sure what leg from photos)
Has dog been chewing at them
are they were she rubs them when lying down
what color is the skin around them
does the area feel mosit or warm to the touch
Have you cleaned them what have you put on them

While a photo may be worth a thousand words - when it comes to diagnosis a feel a sniff and a touch are worth the thousand words squared.

they sure dont look like hot spots to me...looks like a wound absessed. she needs anti biotics right away. infection from those can get into her blood stream. the vet will not just give you an ointment, that is bad..she needs to go today!!!

if they arent healing on their own you may want to take him/her to the vet...until then i would put anti-bacterial ointment on them and bandages. Good luck with that.
