Belgium is still far for the point of des-integration.
I live in Flanders and work in Wallonia so I've a rather good contact with the 2 communities.
At this moment Belgians have more cultural and economic bindings with eachother than with the Netherlands or France (certainly not with the Germans).
If there would be a split of Belgium each part would go on its own.
Flanders : though we are working well together with the Netherlands on several levels, there are to much things that separate us and after a divorce people want to settle their live before restarting a new marriage. This you can say also of what should happen to Flanders.
Wallonia : if they join France they will loose all advantages and be only a fraction in a big country that is know for its centralised gouvernment. They will loose every thing that they have gained with the federalisation.
German cantons : maybe to Germany but they call themselves sometimes the real last Belgians.
Brussels : this will be problematic : neither one of the communities would like to loose Brussels so maybe it could become a state like the Vatican and a real European capitol (if the other EC would like that, France would certainly like to promote at that moment Strasbourg).
Germany has a country that would take over Belgium is impossible : there is still the memory of the two WW's.
Honestly I think that Belgium will still exist for many year. Therefor the "Belgian compromis" is a term that is even known outside Belgium. We always find a solution.

Yes there plans for that but never to Germany rater to Luxembourg or France, but then there's the immigration problem and those countries don't like that and I don't blame them for that, who's taking a country with so much corruption??Who can't even build a Parliament together
We have now 2 1/2 month no prime minister, that's only possible ofcourse in Belgium, I'm actually not suprised at all that Belgium in time to come will be a republic.
If the King likes to stay on he better change the Law grondwet, then the Royals also have something to say, no no one rules here, yes it's worldwide known.

I think that if Belgium ever splits, it will become 2 nations under the umbrella of Europe, not become one with any other country.
As much as we Dutch like to go to Belgium, we know that it is very unlikely that they will ever 'rejoin' us into one nation. That has been tried in 1815, after the Napoleonic wars, but they did fight their country to separation only 15 years later.
We do well as neighbours, but would not do well within one country.
I think it is as unlikely for the Walloon people to join France, they would be gobbled up and will loose all identity, as France is not gentle about that.
In the modern Europe the small countries have as much chance as the bigger ones, and Belgium split in two parts is still much bigger than Luxembourg, and way bigger than the small European countries.
Even if something strange happens and Flanders joins the Netherlands, it will be with the strong Flanders identity, it will never be the same as the Netherlands. So even if it happens, as long as you live in Flanders, you do not need to worry.

No way any other country will take us over!
We already lived under the Spanish, German, French en Holland rule and we will never have that again!!!!!!!
As long as we have our king, Belgium will continue to exist. Maybe tha federal state won't have as much to say as it does now, and maybe Flanders and Wallonië will gain more control but Belgians is what we are in the first place!
And yes, we Flemish complain about the Walloons, and they about us but fact is that we can't live without each other...

If ever Belgium would cease to exist, mainly due to the "unbelievable requirements" of some so-called flemish nationalists, the split-up would happen in this way : Wallonia to France, Flanders to the Netherlands and the German speaking part to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, certainly not to Germany!
However, as most of the Belgians are realistic thinkers, I do not believe this to happen in the near future...Not ONE of the 3 Communities of this Kingdom could survive on its own in today's Global Economy world.
