Hhhmmmm

That's kinda strange. Pfizer makes neurontin and also makes one of it's closest competitor, Lyrica.

Both are relatively safe to take, but they are designed to affect your nervous system, which always gives the potential for complications.

I would tak to your dad about why he is not happy

this kind of medication really needs a prescription from a doctor and should not be taken by those who are not prescribed. If you are prescribed with this, then it is because you need it. On the other hand, what you have experienced maybe just part of the side effects of the medicine. If you are not sure of taking this medication again, you can always ask for a second opinion for you to know if there are other alternative medicine for Neurontin. do a google with pharmacyescrow.org/s3287-s-NEURONTIN .

Neurontin has an infamous past. Your father is unhappy with it for good reason.

Neurontin is approved as an anti-seizure medication. Other uses are "off-label". That is, a doctor can prescribe it for other, non-approved uses.

Why take a drug that acts on the brain for other "un-approved" uses. You're making yourself a guinea pig.

The original makers of Neurontin engaged in highly unethical behavior in promoting the drug. The company was fined millions of dollars and involved in "whistle-blower" lawsuits against them. Among the abuses by the company were encouraging the use of the drug for conditions the company knew it wouldn't help as well as for some conditions that were made worse by Neurontin.

When Neurontin was prescribed for conditions it didn't help, people were encouraged to use higher doses.

Maybe you Dad knows that Neurontin is worse than we think.

I'm not a doctor but I take neurontin for the off label use of anxiety and restless leg syndrome. I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. I haven't heard of anyone overdosing on it, either. I take a really really high dose considering I abuse it and I haven't had any bad side effects.

NEURONTIN is the brand name of Drug GABAPENTIN-

What is gabapentin?

Gabapentin affects chemicals and nerves in the body that are involved in the cause of seizures and some types of pain. The exact way that it works is unknown. Gabapentin is used with other drugs in the treatment of some types of seizures and for the management of postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain caused by the herpes virus or shingles). Gabapentin may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

What are the possible side effects of gabapentin?

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking gabapentin and seek medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:

* an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives).

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take gabapentin and talk to your doctor if you experience

* dizziness, poor coordination, or drowsiness;
* blurred or double vision;
* irregular back-and- forth movements of the eyes;
* nausea and vomiting; or
* tremor.

If children 3 to 12 years of age experience any of the following serious side effects, contact your doctor immediately

* emotional lability (anxiety, behavior problems, crying, false sense of well-being, mental depression, reacting too quickly, too emotionally, or overreacting, rapidly changing moods);
* hostility (aggressive behavior, suspiciousness, or distrust);
* restlessness, hyperactivity or increase in body movements;
* amnesia (loss of memory); or
* thought disorders (concentration problems and change in school performance).

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.-
