When the word is used as a name, capitalize it. When the word is used as a general non-specific noun, don't.

satan is a proper noun and also play a part as "the accuser of the brethren" in christianity.

God is capitalized to show his supremity in christianity also, but when talking about god in christianity it signifies that you are talking about an inferior god or probably an idol not God the supreme God.

It is used with a capital letter when it is used as a proper noun (someone's name). Some also use the capital letter for pronouns (He Him) when referring to God as a mark of respect.

because in christianity, Satan and God are both names, proper nouns actually, and following rules of Grammar, they must begin with a capital letter.

God and Satan are names, thus the capital letter. Its a rule of grammar rather than religion, you will find that Allah, Yahweh, Ganesh, Vishnu, Zuess etc.. are all spelt with caps because they are names also The word god is a word to describe a deity, and isnt a name.

Gods as a general group are not.
"We were discussing gods in literature class today"

Names of gods are capitalized. The judeo-christian god has no name as such so since he is simply referred to as 'God' as if it were a name; hence, it is capitalized. (Just like Thor, Diana, and so forth)

Satan is a name, not a general noun, so it it capitalized.

They are proper nouns. Proper nouns are capitalized. The word "god" is both a proper noun and a common noun depending on its usage. It's not a spiritual or religious question, it is a grammatical one.

yeah, 'a god' and 'the god' it bugs me why Jesus gets to be Jesus' and not Jesus's too, him and Moses are an exception.

but God (as the name of god, as they deny any others) and Jesus, just like Monday Tuesday....you would usually use capital letters for a character in a story, so I don't mind.
I thought Satan's name was Lucifer? Some English authors capitalize any word referring to God: the Lamb, the Almighty...I think thats stupid personally.

It's mostly to do with the people who created the rules of English grammar being Christian

don't do it if it annoys you, chances are it will annoy a fundie, then jackpot.

(lol below me capitol hahaha, take grammar advice from him)

Becuase they are both names. And names are always capitalized. And if you don't believe in god and/or satan, don't say they shouldn't be capitalized because they don't exist. The names of fictional characters are always capitalized as well.
