Ignorance: See below...........

The two most common forms of the argument from ignorance, can be reduced to the following form:

Something is currently unexplained or insufficiently understood or explained, so it is not (or must not be) true.

Because there appears to be a lack of evidence for one hypothesis, another chosen hypothesis is therefore considered proven.

I am sick and tired of being called ignorant because I am a Christian. According to the above statement, I could call atheists and non believers ignorant (but I would never stoop that low) Name calling is immature and rude.

Since ignorance simply means lacking knowledge in a thing (not everything!) or being uninformed, we are all ignorant about something.

God Bless.

Well, the First point DOES apply to theism. I'm just saying...

But anyway, you are entirely correct. Lack of evidence does not imply evidence of a lack. If this were the only point that Atheists rely on, claiming there is no God would be as you say, an argument from ignorance. It is not, however, as atheists put forth no other argument. You say A, which there is no evidence for, we merely say null. There is no second hypothesis for us, we reject all forms of theism. Thus we do not argue from ignorance, merely point out that your arguement has no merit.

Everyone has some level of ignorance because NO ONE knows everything about everything. You're right you shouldn't stoop to a level of ignorance when you know better. Each person has a right to decide how they want to worship or not worship. I'm a Christian, but I also accept and respect that there are others who choose not to believe as I do and it's not ignorant to choose your way of worshipping. Good luck. 2D

Calling someone ignorant is not like calling someone a poopyhead.
Its not namecalling, theres a reason and explanation behind it.
And it doesn't necessarily prove that another hypothesis is true, just rather discredits one without proof. Theres no such thing as the belief of the nonexistence of something. Just the nonbelief of something.

I think rather than saying it is not true, per se, we should say that it is not "the truth". That cleans things up nicely, now doesn't it?
(the second fallacy is used against evolution to attempt to prove God, and, when the question is whether or not God exists, the second one isn't a fallacy....it is yes or no answer, so it is either one or the other!).
Sure, we are ignorant...all ignorant to the glorious reality of the God who is evidenced by Creation with the miracle of circular logic.

actually u cant based on just that, because it isnt the only atheistic argument that because it hasnt been proven it must not be true...

religion is also full of contradictions, inconsistancies, and illogical stories...

however, the reality of it is u can call them whatever u want. but u calling them it doesnt make it true... just like if i called a skinny person fat...

I am with you girl. God said to call no man a fool, thats HIS job, but He goes on to describe a fool. A fool is one that will not respond to the word of God, that will neat believe, hear or obey. One that lives for self, and will not let in the truths about God, let alone live them. So I just blow it off when an atheist says we are ignorant. WE must not be as we hear the voice of God that calls us all. ALl are called, and only a few will answer. I call that smart , intelligent and the only way to go.
But, it doesnt bother me with their put downs and name calling> I am not here to make friends tho I am making so many all over the world. God is good, ppl that do know and love the Lord enough to do as HE says. But, I am here to tell the truths as God tells them to me. SOme listen and some hate me for it. Didint they do that to Jesus too. If the world is just loving us, then I ask what are we doing wrong? Darkness hates light, lies hate truth according to God. so if we arent making some angry, we arent doing our job. We are to live the truth and speak it, and let the convicting be Gods job, and not to worry if they accept us or not. ITs not about us, its about GOd, and thats their choice to do so or to reject Him. I truly dont care what the dark evil ppl think of me, But I do care if they know God or not, so I love them and pray. But truly do not ever concern myself whether I am in their good graces or not. As long as God calls me HIS, thats all I need.
PRess on with truth... There is much evidence for the truths of GOd, but they wont hear them or receive them. Nor will that kind hear us. They reject Jesus and the truth, therefore they will reject us ONly a few more will come, so lets keep praying. They cannot prove their theories, but we have much evidence of God. Bible says when science/knowledge goes against His word, it is false. THere you go, more proof that just cuz science says something does not make it fact. God is smarter than any scientist or astrologist or any of that. they hear from the devil and they present his case , whether they know it or not. Its all choice who we believe, and its also choice if we obey or refuse to obey ALL of GOds commands. Obedience leads to blessing and disobedience still leads to curse.. still the same folks, that hasnt changed. Preach on girl. SHIRLEY

You asked, who is ignorant. Please rest assured that we are all ignorant about many things. No one has all the answers thus we are ignorant about that which we do not know. The important is to not continue in ignorance so study and become informed on those subjects where you lact knowledge.
May YHWH guide us all into truth.

Those who have not yet come into the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. But remember God's Word says, "I will not always wink at ignorance"

Remember it is not us who are ignorant-- but the world uses this as a defense mechanism-- to call us this. Remember what God says:
1 Corinthians 1:27
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
1 Corinthians 1:25
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

-When someone calls me narrowminded I say "thank you" or when someone calls me a fundie I say "thank you" and if someone really goes all out and calls me a bible thumping fundie I say "Why thank you!" : )
