I know there is a Watermark tab, but you have to pay for the service. Is there another way to do it?

BTW,I know what a watermark is. I am asking if anyone knows how to make semi transparent wording. I know how to put wording on a photo, I just can't figure out how to make it semi transparent.

The easiest way to mark your photos is to simply put text on each image.

In PhotoShop you simply choose the text tool and type what you want since PhotoShop will make this a new layer.

If PaintShop does not make text a new layer, then do that first, then put the text in.

Make the text a light gray and change the opacity of the layer to something lower to make the text less intrusive but still visible.

If you are going to send out images, you will want to merge layers and probably save as jpg so then the text becomes part of the image.

This is a visible way to protect your work. There are other ways to imbed copyright and image data that if other people look for it will say your work is copyrighted.

Doing the text works best since it visible.

A watermark is just a way of designing the image with your name (or bussiness name) on it so the photo is kinda hard to duplicate or scan in. You've probably seen watermarks, a faded business name as a banner across the photo. That's all there is to it.
