I know *exactly* how you feel!
A couple of years ago, I found an out-of-state job in a small, rural town, probably similar to yours. Since I had been out-of-work for nearly 3 years, and my bank account was nearly depleted, I had no choice but to move from my apartment of 13 years!
Naturally, the job was a total disaster! They had nothing for me to do (they don't allow employees to surf the 'net or even to read non-work related newspapers or magazines!). I begged for something to do, but the more I complained, the less they seemed to care. And there wasn't anything to do in the very rural town, which was 70 miles away from the closest "city", which, you may have noticed, I put in quotes!
The local apartment complexes were full (and, frankly, not very habitable), so I had to live out of a hotel during the 3 months I was there (fortunately, it was a nice, relatively inexpensive, hotel).
But, I was otherwise completely miserable, lonely, bored, despondent, etc, etc, etc! Fortunately, my boss agreed that it was a mismatch, so I was "let go" and allowed to collect unemployment, as opposed to being fired and not allowed to collect unemployment.
I now have a much better job, in a different State, and, though it's a better town than the above, there still isn't much to do. So, I volunteered my time and services to the local library, and a pet shelter, and a disadvantaged kids' tennis clinic. I also found a number of people who play tennis, both indoors and out. Given all that, I am kept very busy, but I'll admit that I still miss my original home and friends!
Since you're still in school, work may not be an option, but you could consider interning somewhere (some schools give credit for that), or volunteering, or, if you just want to stay at home, keep surfing the web until you find sites with likeable folks (if you're underage, get your parents approval; some websites aren't as nice as they may appear; even this website has its nasty characters!). Reading is always good, but, I'll admit that can get boring after a while. If you're old enough, get on a bike and explore; who knows what you'll find! Are there any extracurricular activities at your school? Chess club? Drama society? Debate team? Volleyball squad? etc, etc, etc!
Hang in there!

I feel the same way sometimes...like I am trapped in a box. I go to engineering school full time, work as well, and everyone expects from me to be perfect...but put it this way as soon as you get done with school you are going to have lot more time to enjoy the things you love...that's what keeps me going most of the time. Don't leave school..without your degree you'll be nobody in this world. Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 yrs. ? Work on your goals? Think about all this ...it's a great way to overcome the bad feeling:)
Good luck

I believe that everyone at one time or another experiences these same feelings that you are currently having. Often times people end up leaving their home towns after they have finished their schooling but often end up returning to where they feel safe and find that these things that they are currently finding boring are actually fun. Best of luck and good luck with this years schooling.

How about joining a club? Like guides or scouts? That way you will get to meet new people to hang out with and have something to do one night. Or if there isnt one already set up, why dont you help make one up yourself? Ask some older people if they can be the leaders, register, get some mates from school to join, advertise and BRAVO!

yepp everyone starts to feel this way but since you live in a small town it seems like it can be really hard to try to explore the world i think that when you get older you should travel and make the best out of life dont stay in one place forever!!!!

i always felt that way growing up.
i went to a pyschic a couple months ago, and he looked at me and said, "why are you here? you dont belong here. you belong in the city, not the suburbs".
maybe it's the same for you. jus finish school, that's key. then you can do what ever you want.

You watch around with open eyes and mind. There will be many things to do. You need to like what you do.
