Hooking up is not necessarily cheap and easy BUT courting is just so much more fun, not to mention romantic.
However, the downside of courting is the expenses incurred.

If by "courted" you mean casually dating without commitment and without real definition... then yes. Currently, actually. It's frustrating, but it's better than the high school version of dating: "Will you go out with me? Yes? Okay, now you're my girlfriend." I find that entire situation way more stressful than necessary ^_^
