Ladies would you be angry if....?

Question

Your mother in law cut your daughter's hair too short at a salon. Even if I specifically told my husband just for a trim. Trim meaning an inch of hair only. My daughter had her hair shaved when she was just a few months. This was also done without my consent and her hair had finally started to grow very long past her shoulders. My 2 year old daughters comes back home with a bob cut a just above the shoulders. I was furious at my husband and mother in law. I can't really complain now because it already is done. What would you do in my situation? I know next time to not even ask of the favor of her cutting her hair at all. I thought I had mad myself clear of what I had expected. Arghh!! Oh well...It'll grow back eventually!! :)

My husband was bad too and told her only a trim as well. She said the barber suggested to cut it that short so it can grow back healthier and faster BUT...she still went beyond our wishes!!

I know it's only hair but it does make a difference since my daughter has always had short hair due to the previous head shaved when she was a baby. Funny is that I cried when I saw her hair!! Hair means alot ot us females!

if i were u, i would also be furious. i mean, if she messed up once, i would understand, but this is the second time!! but i dont think you should have gotten that mad, because hair will always grow back!! dont get frustrated at the little things in life. also, since this has happened before, sit down with your in-law, say sorry for over reacting (even if your not) and tell her that thanks for doing me a favor, but i just want this type of cut, and tell her why. even though its just a trim, show her a picture. or when u make reservations at the salon, tell them in advance what you want. i hope this helps!!

You can't entirely blame your mother-in-law or husband since they took the time to take your daughter to the hair dresser. But in this case it can actually be the hair dresser's fault. I keep my hair rather long and the seldom times I go to get my hair trimmed, they either chop too much off or not enough. My husband has had the same situation happen. I suppose I would ask them what they asked the hair dresser to do?? Maybe they specifically told the person at the salon to just trim and as the salon person was cutting the hair she/he noticed it not being even and started chopping more off??? Your daughter could have moved and screwed up what he/she was cutting??? That being said, your mother-in-law could of said to go ahead and cut her hair??? I would ask what really happened. If it's the salon's fault I would recommend changing salons, if it's your mother-in-law/husband I would next time take your daughter to get her hair cut. But you are right, hair grows!!! At least you are lucky your 2 year old has hair. My daughter is 14 months and still has no hair (minimal amount).

This is a minor thing in the scheme of life. Pick your battles. The hair will grow back. You didn't say what your daughter wants. At 2 she may not be good at telling you what she wants but it's probably better to be shorter for a young child so it's easier to take care of. Mothers-in-law do things you don't like sometimes, but since this can be helped by time you should let this one go. Don't take your daughter to her next time and take her yourself.

It's funny I had the samething happen to me. My daughter is 4 years old and my mother-in-law took my daughter for a hair cut that was suppose to be a trim and chopped off her hair really short. I was so p.o'd that I had to cry because I wanted to just scream out in profanity. I did let her know, that my instructions were to just trim her hair and not chop it off. So next time to save you a hassle and head ache later down the road. Best advice never ask your mother-in-law for any favors that you can do your self, lol....

I dont think your situation is honestly that bad.. it is after all just hair and will grow back.. i think next time tell your husband and mother in law that you onli want an inch off.. you want the hair to be long.. as long as your daughter likes it im sure it doesnt matter x

Yes you should complain even if it's after the cut, it may be the thing to keep mommy in law from doing it again and prove to your husband that you're seriously against this.

She is YOUR daughter too and your mother in law shouldn't have the say so. She is only doing you a favor, she isn't supposed to be taking over the decision making process and if your husband doesn't have the courage to stand up to his mommy then you need to have a serious talk with him too.
Make sure he knows how much you hate this being done to both of your daughter.

Speak up before and after, it makes a difference to you and your family to show that you want them to respect you.

You're right, it will grow back.

But I understand being upset. I think it's more about them not respecting your wishes, and your daughter is too young to care about it.

I would definitely have someone else trim it from now on. Tell your husband & mother in law that you're trying to grow it long.

I would feel upset as well. I would get the impression the I wasnt being respected. By the way, your daughter is only 2 years old, its not like shes 16. Just try to get over it, and next time get someone who you actually trust to cut your daughters hair.

ok well it will grow out in a few month and it WILL be healthier so i think that next time you should just take your daughter for a hair cut yourself instead of having ur mother in law do it or just buy special hair scizors at a salon so you can cut your daughters hair yourself

I would have been mad too. She must wanted your daughter hair cut the way she waited it because that's how she did it. I would just go to her in a respectful manner and let her know that she want be doing my child's hair no more because of what she did.
