This person is alleged to have had the power to heal the sick and raise the dead. He preached a message of love, forgiveness and the worship of the One True God. Roman authorities, fearing that his expanding fellowship might pose a social or political threat, arrested him and had him put to death. Following his execution, his disciples said he rose from the dead, appeared to them to deliver a message, and then ascended into Heaven.
Can you guess who this is?? Also, please star this - Id like as many people as possible to respond!!

Oy, Julio, you've asked a challenging question. I suppose you're refering to Mithra, aren't you? ; )
There's something you should consider further here, though: the Mithra cult arose in ancient Persia, did it not? You may be aware that, after the destruction of the First Temple, the Jews were taken into captivity in Persia. There, a young man named Daniel arose, showing himself to be a powerful prophet. Scripture tells us he possessed copies of the scrolls making up the Old Testament, as far as it had been written, and that he had Persian students who followed him. These students had students, and so on -- until we see the "Three Wise Men of the East," as discussed in Matthew 2 of the Bible. Because Daniel had taught his students Bible prophecy, these Wise Men knew what to look for and, more importantly, WHEN to look for it: because (and this might blow you away), Daniel 9 tells us the exact year that Jesus would be born!
Why is this important? Because there are ALWAYS people who will corrupt the truth into something it isn't. This happened in ancient Persia, when people corrupted the Biblical truths Daniel taught. The Mithra cult arose from that (they simply took a pre-existing deity and pasted Daniel's teachings onto him) -- and THAT'S why there's a similarity ... because ALL of the things the cult believed are taught by the Scriptures!
In approximately 130 AD, the early Christian writer Justin Martyr, speaking with a Jew named Trypo, explained this in a roundabout way. Here's a link if you'd like to read it:

EDIT: Phewie!
SECOND EDIT: Samantha, by the time Daniel received the last recorded prophecy, the Babylonian Empire had been conquered by Cyrus the Great, King of Persia. Therefore, Babylon became Persian. See Daniel 1:21, 6:28 and 10:1.

taking into consideration all factors, it would be Jesus
removing the part of Rome, the execution, and raising the dead, it would be Plato.
it could also be John the Baptist.
if you remove the healing of th sick, raising of the dead, and the romans and replaced it with the Papal States, it would be Father Girolamo Savonarola, who predicted the fall of the Medici and preached the end of the "wealthy church".

The answers above are most ignorant except for those who answered Jesus Christ. The majority of the answerers need to repent now. The Creator has no sympathy nor humor come Judgment Day. The direct rebellion on this forum is blasphemy. Denying one's Creator is not very smart. You will be accountable for every idle word spoken.

Theodorous of whatever. There were lots of religious reformers in the time of Jesus. Other myths feature ascended heroes, like Bacchus.

This person does NOT exist... bcz according to Islam... Jesus ascended into heaven first... n then the person who was crucified was an enemy of Jesus who was unfortunately for him turned into looking like him by God's will :D
EDIT:
Just read another answer... about Mitra... Daniel the Prophet... mmm... probably...
I just wanted to correct something... the lost tribes of Israel weren't taken as captive by the Persians... they were released by the Persians... :) Cyrus the Great of the Achamenian dynasty... he's celebrated by the Jews even nowadays... bcz he was the one who freed them...

You're probably going to say Apollonius of Tyana, but your comparison is seriously flawed.
His biographer, Philostratus, ends the book with the death of Apollonius, with the exception of one after-death vision. That vision occured to a sleeping man in 273.
So can I say .... in your dreams?
