NO!!! Pain medications have effects that are NOT good for the puppies and can slow labor and make a c-section more possible.
SPAY....you can get pain meds for that!!!!

I've never heard of dogs being given pain relief during birth they have to endure the pain as they cannot tell us whats happening like humans but speak to your vet and take his advice.

WoW!!!These comments were very rude, negative, and quite demanding. We plan to keep them or adopt them out to family.Didn't know she was in heat so here we are!Just because someone asks a question to see if their VET will allow the canine to have pain meds doesn't mean you have to go off the deep end about someone else's rights as a dog owner. She didn't ask about getting the dog spayed or neutered, she didn't say anything about giving the canine any alcohol nor anything else she said VET!This is elementary level reading and comprehension, so what happened!!Most of these comments have truth behind them and can be very useful to some.Whoever you are need to work on your communication skills. If you didn't know the answer,If you don't have anything nice to say, If all you can say is don't breed your dogs unless..,or get them spayed or neutered! And lastly IF YALL CAN'T READ....KEEP IT MOVING!!So thanks for the kind and knowledge based comments! 😄

Your dog will be healthier if you think and treat them like a dog. Being close to your canine is a great thing but projecting human feelings, thoughts etc. is unhealthy for your dog and they will not be as happy.
Pain meds are dangerous during birth. Spay your dog and give it a healthy and satisfying life.

No, dogs don't need the pain relief. They do look uncomfortable, and their first time can be tricky since they don't always understand what is happening or going on, but typically just you being there with them, lots of praise and love and comfort, can go a long way. Walking them up and down a hall between puppies can help speed things along, but labor for dogs is not usually that long anyway. So don't worry, just be there for her.

Why are you wanting to breed your dog? Is she an exceptional specimen
of her breed, conforming closely to the breed standard? Has she any hard to
find virtues that would be a critical addition to the breed? Has she been
tested for genetic problems that can be passed on from the parents and does
she have an exceptional temperament? Has she been shown, and at least is on
her way to being a champion, if not already one?
If you want to bred and do it ethically, you must be committed to
learning all about your breed..its standard, its genetic diseases, the good,
the bad and the ugly. You must understand that your female could die. You
might have nothing but dead puppy bodies whether she lives or not. You might
have to pay for an emergency c-section to save her and/or the pups. If you
lose her, you are responsible for all the feeding of the pups, which will
require you to feed them every 1.5 to 2 hours. ALL hours, not just the
daylight ones. The puppies will poop 24/7, and this becomes your
responsibility to clean whether the mother survives to raise them or not.
The pups still need to be vet checked, vaccinated and dewormed no matter
what. When they reach certain stages of their lives, they need proper
socialization and guidance. They will be your responsibility at least for 8
weeks. After that 8 weeks, you are responsible to make sure they never wind
up homeless in a shelter or rescue. To ensure that, you will have to do
homechecks and make up contracts to be certain the new owners are going to
take care of them for life. You have to agree to always be available to take
back your puppies no matter what.
If you want to be a responsible breeder, look up your local breed
club, jump in and educate yourself. Listen to the advice of REPUTABLE
breeders and learn all you can about your dog. If you just wanna make
puppies to sell for lotsa money, don't bother. We have too many of those
already.

WHAT? Do not give anything for pain for whelping.. They aren't like people.. People experience ( I HEAR ANYHOW ) far more pain than dogs do.. Dogs seem to experience discomfort, and a puppy with a big head is a little painful... But you do not want to give her anything for pain.. It's not good for the puppies, and if she can't push on her own to get them out, you are in for a c-section or they all die.. You don't want a dog all looped up on drugs trying to whelp a litter..
If you don't want the dog to experience any pain at all, have her spayed.. You can't predict what might happen if she were to whelp a litter..
What's painful is trying to find good homes for puppies.. Especially in breeds like Doberman, Rottweiler, Shepherd etc.. You will be contacted by the worst of the worst ... Doberman puppies bring out the scum of the earth sometimes.. Bad tv movies, bad publicity, and you have some dumb motorcycle guy standing at your front fence looking for a Doberman to guard his precious Harley... You have people showing up who used to be able to own pit bulls and with the ban now are looking for a new breed to destroy.
If you breed her, spay and neuter all the puppies.. It helps to avoid having to deal with the low life's.. None of those guys wants a neutered male... Isn't good for their image!
Edit : DO NOT GIVE HER BRANDY AND MILK after whelping.. OMG.. She is going to be feeding PUPPIES.. You do not want to give her alcohol, and you don't want to give her something to upset her stomach..

No there is no pain relief for whelping dogs.
If you can't handle her being in pain, what will you do if she has complications or dies? Or if any puppies get sick and/or die? It happens. Often.
Maybe you'd better rethink this......

No, pain releif is not given dogs. Why do you want to breed your b1tch? Has she been hip scored, eye tested and tested DNA clear for vWD?
There is always a risk to a b1tch when whelping, things don't always go according to plan and it is possible that you could lose her.

Unfortunately, there is no pain medication for a laboring b*tch.
I just scrubbed in on a Dobie C-Section yesterday! 8 puppies!! You must prepare yourself for the unexpected... like Cesareans! You are looking at a bill anywhere from $1,800-3,000 for the Section. Do your homework first :)
