i personally wish all you import loving peeps would move out of the country...good grief people!!! what do you do so i can make sure your jobs are extinct soon enough? i work for a dodge dealership, and own 3 of them myself. dependable is an understatement. my 95 dakota has 135,000 on the clock. i have tuned it up, put tires on it and replaced the brakes. gasp at the thought of spending $1000 on maintainence in 4 years!!!
if the vehicle was taken care of i dont see why it should give you any problem. ANY vehicle including your beloved hondas and toyotas will be turds if they arent taken care of. now stop bad mouthing american cars when you obviously know ZERO about the topic....check my credentials...

Dodge Dakotas are very reliable. The best years are said to be 1996, 2009, or 2010.

i have a 95 Dakota, and other than the radiator core going,i haven't had any problems with it,unlike my chevy and ford. the Chevy was just a green turd, broke down 4 times in less than a year ( and I'm a mechanic b.t.w, the truck just wasn't worth fixing anymore to me ) the ford would eat transmissions. i know of several people that are kicking themselves for getting rid of their dodges. if the truck is taken care of,it will last years and years, mine has 148,300 on it,and just this morning i was pulling a tree out with it. your caravan b.t.w has a Mitsubishi drive line in it. mitsu engine, mitsu transmission, mitsu wiring. now ya know why ya had problems with it. in fact the new Mitsubishi raider is really just a re-badged Dakota, with some style alterations.mechanically, its still a Dakota.

i had a 1995 dodge pick up, currently own an 05 Durango. I had a lot of wiring issues with the pick up & know a cople other dodge owners with the same issues. Knock on wood I have not had problems with the Durango yet. I personally never buy american made cars but needed to tow a trailer so I ahd no choice but to buy the dodge as I feel Chevy & Gmc also have issues. Just get it checked out or get an extended warranty...

There's no such thing as expecting a vehicle to be reliable or not. It depends on how you take care of it. All vehicles have reliability problems. Not every vehicle is guaranteed to be totally reliable.
