Talk to your Dr. about migraine meds and prevention.

Try my headache remedy...take 1 ex strength Excedrin and a Diet Pepsi. works for me! If it doesn't go away within about 45 min...I do it once more.
Read the warnings on the Excedrin bottle first if you have never taken it.

Advil a.k.a ibuprofen thins ur blood, it also can cause ulcers in your intestines and liver toxicity. It really depends on how often ur taking it throughout the day, but prolonged and frequent use causes the levels to increase in the body and lead to serious problems. If u are experiencing severe headaches after the accident I would advise that u make an appointment with a neurologist(doctor that deals with nerves and the brain) or ask your regular doctor to perform tests like an EEG or MRI of your brain. Dont mask the symptoms with Advil because something worse could be brewing.

If you're having headaches more than 2x a week or 7x a month that you would describe as "severe" then you need to make an appointment with your doctor.

While mild headaches are common, severe ones might be an indicator of something more dangerous.

To answer your question however, while you CAN take Advil (and other ibuprofen products) daily, it is not always advised, as it can cause damage to your stomach. Also, if you're just treating the symptoms but not the cause you're doing yourself more harm than good.

As long as you're following the directions on the bottle, you're fine. The only problem with taking it everyday is you might get immuned to it and it won't work anymore. Usually you can take 2 every 4-6 hours and not more than 6-8 tablets a day, but I wouldn't advise taking that much (6-8). If you have to take more than 2 a day, then you should take something else. I have tried every kind of headache medicine and I find that Excedrin Migrane works the best. You can only take 2 in a 24 hour period. It works great for migranes and headaches. I too get headaches everyday, but I try not to take medicine everyday for it. I have tried so many perscriptions and they just made it worse to the point of vomitting. Headaches are caused by a number of things, diet, dehydration, not enough sleep, too much sleep, posture......etc. maybe have your eyes checked. Good luck to you.

The safety of Advil and ibuprofen is not really the issue, but yes its ok, so long as you don't take more than it says on the bottle. It can cause gastric bleeding and organ failure if you take too much.
That being said, the cause of your headaches needs to be found.
Wish you luck! Feel better!

I've been having headaches daily too and my dad said that I'm too young for my body to be dependant on tylenols or aspirins or advils everysingle day. I don't think it's very good to take them everyday, but go see your doctor because he/she will help you indentify why you have these headaches and hopefully prevent them. Good luck!

No.The main ingredient in Advil is ibuprofen, which with continuous use over a prolonged period of time (months) can elevate your blood pressure and it's not easy on your liver either.
If your are a woman still having a menstrual cycle you may find what a neurologist is having my daughter do for her migraines helpful. He instructed us to give her Naproxen one pill every day for three days before her period starts, every day of her period and for three days after her period ended.
This regimen has ended her migraines for the last two years. In addition he restricted her from strenuous exercise including P.E. at school.
Prior to this regimen we were at the hospital at least once a month for her uncontrollable migraines that caused her to start vomiting non-stop and neccessitated the use of I.V. fluids to rehydrate her.We had tried every migraine medicine even at adult strength for her to no avail, imitrex, migrainol, even the I.V. meds in the hospital failed. Then the neurologist came in said it was related to her hormones and how to address the problem appropriately, and cheaply I might add.
It is over the counter and at most you take it ten days a month. But you take it even though you have no headache this is preventative care.Talk to your Dr. see if you have a pattern of your headaches following your menstrual cycle, and see if this regimen is something you could try for relief.
My daughter takes the store brand at 50 mg for one pill.Which is the minimal dose.I believe the name brand Aleve has 220 mg per pill.If you do start this regiman stay at as low a dose as is needed to PREVENT the pain from starting.

If you take it for too long it can damage your stomach or your kidneys. If you're having a problem with headaches you need to see a neurologists. He will determine the cause of your headaches and treat you. I've suffered with migraines most of my life. Now I take preventative medications and medications for my specific type of headache. No one should have a headache everyday. Good luck. 2D

Needing non-prescription medicines like this for more than 3 days in a row is a sighn that you ned to see a Dr!

Something is causing the headaches.

Maybe it is as simple as mild dehydration and you need to drink more water.

Maybe it's brain cancer.

Only your Dr can make an accurate diagnosis.

It is safe when you dont exceed 600 milligrams per day, if you weigh around 160 plus pounds....and if you dont suffer gastritis..
Do not mix Ibuprofen with antidepressants such as imipramine, fluoxetine, or venlaflaxine..
Or coincidental use of anticualgulants such as watfarine (coumadin)
Dont take it for longer than 15 days because you can force your liver (ibuprofen or ADVIL, same thing)is eliminated thorugh the liver (bile)...
Other than that, the drug is quite safe,,,,If you take it for two weeks, leave two weeks rest period...and you can keep using it. without risk...
