I'm thinking starting an anti war campaign in my neighborhood in protest of yet another disastrous war based on lies (war with Iran) in my area and it will have a dual purpose:

To raise money to buy for "Support the troops stop the war" t-shirts for homeless vets to help them out a bit and to raise public awareness to the effects of war and the fact that the government doesn't support the troops when they come home.

What do you think about that?

Typical.

You care nothing about homeless people, nothing about veterans, nothing about service members - you just want to exploit them as pawns for your political opinions.

Why are you Protesting a "WAR WITH IRAN"

and here I quote your question blurb

"I'm thinking starting an anti war campaign in my neighborhood in protest of yet another disastrous war based on lies (war with Iran) in my area and it will have a dual purpose:"

There is NO war with Iran as of 00:01 on the 01 September 2007.

and;

"Support the stop the war's" sounds a bit geeky!!

I think you are absolutely clueless to just how much support us troops get upon our return home.

I might catch hell for this, but I just don't care.

The "homeless vet," PTSD, "government not supporting the troops" myths need to stop.

I am not going to say PTSD doesn't exist and that some vets don't have a hard time.

But I will say that many of those vets that can't hack it upon the return home probably would have problems in life with or without the war. They often use the "homeless vet" stuff as a crutch. Also, let's not forget many of the "homeless vets" are not vets at all.

Many people go through horrible things in life, loss of loved ones in tragic accidents, assaults, martial issues, etc. Many of those people still get on with their lives.

There are countless programs for us, and the government (if anything) does more then it needs to.

So, anyhow, you are going to raise money to buy agenda driven T-shirts for homelss people that claim to be vets. Can you be anymore shameless? Why not hold a wet T-shirt contest for High School girls with an anti-war slogon on the T-shirts? How about a "Anti-war kegger"? Why not burn dog-crap on the doorsteps of local home-owners that happen to be vets and war supporters? "Good luck" and "have a nice day."

I think, if you are SERIOUS about doing this, you should be ashamed of yourself for exploiting homeless veterans like that rather than trying to actually help them (to get a place to live, a job, whatever help through counseling they need).

Besides, how would you confirm the ones you were shirting up were ACTUAL homeless VETERANS?

You would spend more time, effort and $$$ in researching their authenticity than the "demonstration" would provide publicity. Money that could be better used by a charitable fund or group who provides actual HELP to the homeess.

It takes more than a sign saying you are a veteran to actually be a veteran.

why are you exploiting homeless vets? you think they want your B.S. Instead, find a way to help them, refer them to an agency, anything, but keep your exploiting greedy hands off them. They have enough problems.
Why dont you help someone instead of looking for ways to cause more chaos?
They supported me fine when I came home and they still do. No system is perfect, but with agitators like you none can work.
Public awareness is at an all time high for vets. Get another cause.

What do you want to do Rio? Get them arrested!
Well they would be better off with a roof over their heads and 3 squares a day. I guess.
I get a kick out some of these posters who say you just want to exploit the vets. They fail to mention the thousands that come home with PTSD and find it so hard to function in life after war. Yeah they do have relationship problems and drugs, alcohol, work but how much of that can we attribute to PTSD. I'm no expert but I would say a lot of it, especially after seeing the shape our boys were in when they came home from Vietnam. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Why not kill two birds with one stone. It helps raise awareness that I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing and it tells them that someone actually cares. What would you propose.......to do nothing?

How about a shirt to support clueless liberals such as yourself?

Been to Iraq 3 times, everything you're saying regarding Iraq, Iran and Vet's pretty much leads me to conclude you know nothing about these subjects...

I don't get the exploitation aspect of it all. You aren't making the bums wear the shirts. And if they do, they get a free shirt out of it! It's win-win!

I can honestly say, without bias, I like your idea. Whether you love or hate the war, you have to admit, it would speak volumes to see a homeless veteren saying he doesn't like the war.

Your only problem is, if homeless vets were so smart, why wouldn't they go to the VA hospital for some help? I once had a homeless vet tell me he could save me 4 years of engineering school. "Use screws instead of nails!" My dad is a 75% disabled veteran of 3 conflicts but he is doing alright.

I think this a great idea, but remember your fighting a war to propose the stop of a war. For example the troops are over there because they want to be, some didn't know what they got into when they signed up, and this worked against them because our president and vice president and the rich people at the top profit off of the war. So you are fighting an uphill battle. However, to raise money for homeless vets, makes it worth it.
