lol, Unfortunately, I do. They usually fall into the 'God hates me, so I hate god. I'm an Atheist.' category.

I usually try to gently point out that being unhappy with a situation is not quite the same as 'God hates you.'

Yes!

Most my friends where I live now are atheists. So of course there are several of them that aren't exactly bright. Intelligence isn't required to be an atheist, just a disbelief in god(s).

With that said, I do know one person who is the absolute scum of the earth and I can't stand to look at him, and I despise him with every ounce of my being. He happens to be an atheist, but that's not necessarily why I dislike him. It's a long story (maybe I'll tell you sometime) but as of right now he just gets drunk and tries to hit on me and when I say no he goes off insulting Christianity. It's quite funny.

Of course, as you well know I'm not anti-atheist by any means. Conversely, some of the most wonderful people I know are atheists.

And if you hang around here long enough you'll see that there's even a few R&S atheists who are a few tacos short of a platter.

Atheists and theists are pretty similar... Atheists say that all theists are gullible for believing what they were told. Theists believe based on hearsay, superstition, fear, hope, answers etc. which means they're gullible. Theists say that most other theists are gullible for belieiving what they were told. 'Those' theists believe based on hearsay, superstition, fear, hope, answers etc. which means they're gullible Richard Dawkins says that atheists are 100% atheist, while theists are almost the same when you consider that they reject all the other religions atheists also reject. Since they have so much in common, maybe they should just focus on their similarities and ignore their petty differences, since they're almost exactly the same using these criteria? I hear this type of talk at inter-religious conferences all the time.

The only ones I can think of are the teens who claim to be atheist but really don't know what they do or do not believe.

So nah, I actually don't know any atheists who aren't the brightest crayons in the box.

I have found them to be quite intelligent in some respects. Most notably in the venue of science. However, I think science cannot answer the question of God's existence from the outset, so it is my sincere opinion that they are making a categorical error in that regard. What I mean is, the endeavor of science is to study that which can be perceived, measured. Essentially science is restricted to this physical universe but the question of what exists apart from this universe is not an area science can give anyone an answer to. It is not in the realm of science. They may object "How does one know that anything exists beyond this universe?" but I believe it takes just as much faith to assert that nothing does. To assert that this universe is the only existence is not a scientific fact. It is not scientific knowledge. Science tells us what agencies operate in nature, not what agencies, if any, operate outside it. Even more, it begs many questions: Why did this universe begin at all? Amongst many others...

Sure there are, just like there are dumb people who belong to any religion, culture, whatnot. They're the type of people who just in a way make atheism a religion, if that makes any sense. They cannot get any inspiration or find any good in any religious text or bible quote or whatnot, just out there spewing hatred, wanting to make Christians look bad. Yeah, some can be as bad as Christian conservatives who protest and suppress art.

When it comes to science, philosophy, or religion, I know I'm not the brightest crayon in the box, but hey, I get by with my looks.

LOL

Atheists are nearly always the brightest (and sharpest) crayons in the box. Personally, I like to think of myself as Goldenrod (read into that what you will). ;-)

Dat feral gie iz nawt verie smarrt, he duz not beeleeve in God! I fownd dat sumtymez dem Atheists done not tink God iz reel!

LoL. The fact that a person realizes the entire falsity of religion automatically gives them a one-up on most people as far as intelligence.

there are plenty on here that post their comments that serve no purpose other than to insult. In person, all the atheists I know are very bright folks.

Have I already mentioned how much I like the new pic?

you know Crayons have really gone down hill. the sharpener doesn't even work anymore and what little kid can pronounce the fancy names on the colors? If they can memorize the color names on the crayons that should qualify them for a GED!!!
