Even the high priest. There was a show on the discovery channel not long ago about the Ark. They really set out to disprove the whole think and ended up proving it. It had to do with the amount of gold used, the sand, and the lack of humidity. Basically, it built up a huge static charge that could kill a person.
Sorry I don't have more details, hubby and daughter were watching and I just caught parts of it.

In 1 Chronicles, David is bringing the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem. they were bringing it back on a cart pulled by oxen and the oxen stumbled and Uzzah went to catch it--he was killed. I t was because they weren't following the the way the ark was to be transported. It was to carried by the Levites or the priests. When David figured that out and did what he was supposed to do the ark made it fine. In the NT ; we as believers are considered priests, so I don't think it would destroy a believer. A non-believer I think would be. This is just my understanding.

The answer to your question was stated in my response to your other question.
Only whom God allows will be allowed to touch the Ark of the Covenant. As the Old Testament declares, it was only the High Priest appointed by God that could carry the Ark of thecovenant.
So it will not be the Ark of the Covenant that will destroy man, it will be man destroying himself for disobeying by touching it without God's permission.

No, we are not under the old covenant anymore. The ark is an historical piece of furniture or box or what ever you want to call it but it has no power, if it did Jesus Christ wouldnot have died on an old rugged cross. When Christ rose from the grave he forever changed the way we come to the throne of grace, the veil covering the ark has been torn into. The door to the Holy of Holies is open to any saved person now and forever more. Great question my friend, I could feel the spirit showing me the scriptures about the Ark, wow, PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!

It was highly charged with an electrical current, and a communication device. The pure hearted ones could get in close proximity to it, but not touch it. The Priests couldn't even go near it except they prepare a year beforehand, (not having sex with their wives etc.) It was so much so, that they sewed bells on the bottom of the priests robes and had a rope tied about their ankle so that they could tell if the priest was yet alive while in the Holy of Holies, and if they should die there, (beings they couldn't go into the room after them without dying themselves,) they pulled the priest out by the rope. When Christ died, the veil was "rent in two," meaning anyone now could now go in to the Holy of Holies without being consumed.

Some say it's in Africa now, being guarded by priests there, and some say it doesn't exist in this realm anymore, but was "taken up."

Even the High Priest was not to touch it, and he was only allowed to enter into the Most Holy Place only once a year.

God could destroy anyone who came close to it if He wanted to, but He may allow someone to even touch it now if He wanted.

The plans in the Bible sound like it was a capacitor. It would build up charge and throw electric sparks and such. It is little more than an Egyptian magic trick.

But it was big enough to be quite dangerous. They have one at the Franklin Museum in Philly that they do demos with. They break 2X4s and such. It is pretty impressive and if you didn't understand electricity it would look like the hand of god for sure.

God knows the hearts and minds of all individuals. God was well aware of the attitudes and presumptions the Israelites were beginning to foster. Therefore God made it clear that the Ark represented His presence among them. The man who tried to adjust the Ark's position did so "irreverently" and God "knew" this and made an example of him.

If we take the accounts of people being in god's presence ageing quickly together with this ark story, we are led towards the conclusion that god and the things he touches are radioactive.
