Pay off the current credit card first. Then negotiate settlement of the one in collections. The negative is already on your report. Better to have one good tradeline.

I agree. but, you need to cut up all your credit cards first. You'll end up in the same mess again if you dont get rid of the leaches.

IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO PAY IT OFF BUT IF YOUR IN HARD TIMES THAT'S A DIFFERENT STORY DEPENDS ON IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY THE BILL WITH YOU CAN TALK TO THEM AND ASK THEM IF THEY WILL LOWER YOUR PERCENTAGE AND YOUR PAYMENT BE PERSISTENT THEY CAN DO IT IF THEY WANT TOO IF THERE'S ANYTHING ON THERE THAT'S NOT YOURS DISPUTE IT THEN THEY HAVE 30DAYS TO REPLY OR IT GETS REMOVED FROM YOUR CREDIT REPORT GOOD LUCK TO YOU
