thank you for your input. in answer to your additional questions: yes, i do drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. and yes i do take a multivitamin every day. i asked this question because i do not believe that i am eating enough, and i'm afraid my body will begin to suffer. it is hard to eat enough calories because i try to eat healthy foods, which are in turn, low calorie. thanks for the help. more suggestions are welcome!

I would suggest you go talk to your Dr and find out what he/she recommends. I am glad to hear your eating healthier choices but I am concerned you aren't getting enough nutrients and what your body needs to remain healthy. You don't mention if you also take a supplemental vitamin which I would recommend and I am going to believe you are drinking more than enough water to keep hydrated.
If the Dr has no concerns then I wouldn't worry but it does seem like you (as active as you seem to be) are getting enough calories/nutrients which fruit/veggies could give you.

Woah, that's way too few calories for your age! You need between 1800-2000 calories a day at your age, more if you happen to be active. 115 lbs. is probably a bit on the low side of the weight scale at your height, too.

You're on the right track for eating healthy, but you need to eat more. You need 5-8 servings of vegetables a day, 6-11 servings of grains (preferably whole), and 3-5 servings of fruits. On top of that, you should be getting at least three servings of protein. You can get that protein from nuts, nut butters, yogurt, milk, and such, but you can't go wrong with a little chicken, fish, or pork. (You're right not to eat red meat, as long as you do eat a little other meat.)

I would hesitate to call this moderately healthy. The servings are too few, the calorie intake is too low, especially since you exercise. If weight is a concern for you, see your doctor, who can help you determine a healthy weight and, if you are especially concerned about your diet, pay a visit to a registered dietician (not a nutritionist), who can make up a plan that is healthy and fits your lifestyle.

With diet-related diseases becoming increasingly prevalent in this world, especially among youth, it's refreshing to see you're interested in your health. However, there is such a thing as overdoing it. But don't give up trying to eat healthy and keep up with your exercise. With a little practice and effort, you can live a very healthy lifestyle that may prevent weight gain and diet-related diseases later on in life. Kudos.

I am an RN, and it looks like you are eating relatively healthy, but if you want to continue to eat the size portions you do try eating about six times a day. It's very good that your eating complex carbs i.e. WHOLE wheat breads. Try adding a bit more protein into you breakfast, try adding peanut butter on you waffles or toast. It would be a good idea to try to incorporate all of the basic food groups in a meal. Ofcourse you can maybe have your veggies for lunch and dinner, and your fruits for breakfast and lunch, you spread those two out; but try to have protein, complex carbs, dairy, and fruits and/or veg. with every meal. Also like I said before, if you are going to eat small portions, eat at least six small meals a day, that's actually the best because it maintains your metabolism at a steady rate all day. Instead of going up and down. Also because of your age, body is still maturing and your metabolism is important for those changes.

You are only getting 1000 calories a day AND you need at least 1400 to even function normally. You should double your intake most likely, even if its just salad with chicken and dressing, put on as much dressing as you'd like, as you are thin anyways. I eat double/ triple of what you eat in a day, same age and height, and weigh less, so it just goes to show that your healthy weight can be much different than anyone else's healthy weight. I would suggest eating more foods like nuts and milk, which are healthy, but also have plenty of calories to keep you going through the day.

Why are you eating a little bit of lite syrup and dressing?? Why are you worrying about your diet? You are only consuming about 1000 calories a day, and your bmi is underweight (I am the same age, height and weight as you isnt that weird?) You should pack on more calories because your growing body needs it, you do not need to worry or think about your diet..add more dressing to your salad! Eat a cake! Also, you exercise, which uses up the little calories you consume. Trust me, eat more and stop worrying, people always tell me how skinny I am (remember same stats as you) You are not overweight, or even average, my advice is to live a little bit and stop going on a diet. your typical diet is too healthy, if you ask me, if you have any doubts about this I suggest you seek a doctor to confirm the health of your diet. If you think you are overweight or eating too much, you may have an eating disorder, again, speak to a parent, trusted adult, or doctor, because it seems to me that you are worrying too much.

No, actually it's not. You need some protein with breakfast every day, not just yogurt some days; that's not enough for lunch, that's more of a snack; you don't have enough fruits or vegetables, you're not getting enough oil for your joints (you need two teaspoons a day). I suspect you're not getting enough protein and carbohydrates for your brain, also. At the least, you need to take in two fruits and three vegetables a day (a cup of salad counts as one serving). As to exercise, it depends on what you're doing. I suspect you're only doing cardio, not weights. You need some weights to strengthen your bones. I also recommend that you take in some vitamins, particularly 1,500 mg. of calcium, because otherwise, at your weight, you're a candidate for osteoporosis in the future: you should be getting three servings of calcium a day.

115 lb is pretty light, but if u want to get in shape go for an hour walk everyday and slowly move up from 1 hour to 1 and a half, then start jogging, work ur way up slowly so ur body gets used to it, and start 5 push ups a day, next day 6 then 7 and so on and same with sit ups and chin ups, get ur body used to exercise and get your body strong then start going back to what u used to do, and slowly you'll get ur abs
