I understand that white reflects light and black absorbs it, but do not understand the coorelation in regards to sunburn.

Actually, the reverse is true!

Dark coloured clothes reflect less UV on to uncovered skin so give better protection.

You just answered your own question if you think about it. If white reflects and dark absorbs.....then that means that darks are absorbing or allowing the exposed skin to be exposed to the UV rays to cause a sunburn instead of reflecting. NOW THAT'S IN THEORY. ANY EXPOSED skin is subject to sunburns no matter what color you are wearing. They actually say to wear lighter cloths to help you KEEP COOLER not necessarily to keep from getting a sunburn. Because dark clothing absorbs HEAT. I hope this gives you a better understanding.

well cause if u don't wear sun screen u get burn
more.
