What you should do is this.
With your wedding invitation there is the outside envelope that has the people's proper name and address.
Then there is the interior envelope where you would only put the adults names like this.

Outer envelope
Dr and Mrs William Smith
123 Sesame St
Oxford Ga 30982

The inner envelope would say
Bill and Cindy

As a parent I know if it does not say
Bill, Cindy and Sam
then my little Sam is not envited and to make alternate arangements for him that evening.
This will save from having to be so obvious about it.

On the reception and wedding invitation u dont have to do it on the response card as that would be too much.

When you say "reception card" do you mean RSVP card? Just wondering =D. I've never heard of a reception card before.

Yes, putting it there would be very appropriate. Good luck with planning, and congrats!

If the reception is after the wedding you NEED to let everyone know. People with kids will need to know.

Uh, no. "Adult reception" sounds like it will be adult material - a.k.a. sexual.

I'm sure there's some etiquette you can find online about this, but I'd put a small line at the bottom like "Due to the nature of the reception, we feel your children would better enjoy themselves at home."

Might I also recommend hiring a pair of trusted teenagers and having kids snacks and movies on hand in another room. Because some parents simply HAVE to bring their pwecious liddle horror
