Cute riddle ;)

Rock salt:
You use it to make (freeze) ice cream in the summer and put it on driveways and roads to melt ice in the winter.

The water in some caves in China freeze in summer and melt in winter, it's because of the seasonal variation and distribution of nitrous and amniotic salts. Some ice mines freeze in winter and thaw in summer and there's a place in the South Kyongsang Province (check spelling) in S Korea, a mountain with a name like 'alomgol' which freezes in summer, possibly because of a chemical process involving strontium isotopes.

Other than that I don't know.
