The fathers of Israel thought it would be better to form a new Jewish state in Argentina.....

"Shall we choose Palestine or Argentine? We shall take
what is given to us, and what is selected by Jewish
public opinion. The Society will determine both these points.

"Argentine is one of the most fertile countries in the
world, extends over a vast area, has a sparse population and a mild climate. The Argentine Republic would derive considerable profit from the cession of a portion of its territory to us. The present infiltration of Jews has certainly produced some discontent, and it would be necessary to enlighten the Republic on the intrinsic difference of our new movement."--The Jewish State (The Jewish Question),by Theodor Herzl.

Don't you think that the world would have been better place to live had Israel been in Argentina as planned earlier ?

No, Bluto, I really mean 'World' since terrorism is said to have taken birth in that region which is a menace for the whole world now.

Dear RW, there was a Moor dynasty in Spain, there was a Moghul dynasty in India, there was a khan dynasty in Mangolia a thousand year or less ago. Should the descendents of these dynasties claim their homelands back ?

Dear Dan I respect your beliefs but why did the Zionist thinkers thought of several options in first place ?

There is no God............

I believe that Jews, had they been in Argentina or elsewhere, would have made a great nation becoz of their love for the country. I respect them and love them.
However your views are also true. I hope one day both Jews and Muslims will understand each other.

Of course the middle east and the people of Palestine will have peace and spared the palestinians untold sufferings.
Theodor Herzl sought support from the great powers for the creation of a Jewish homeland. He turned to Great Britain, and met with Joseph Chamberlain, the British colonial secretary and others. The British agreed, in principle, to Jewish settlement in East Africa "on conditions which will enable members to observe their national customs."

At the Sixth Zionist Congress at Basel on August 26, 1903, Herzl proposed the British Uganda Program as a temporary refuge for Jews in Russia in immediate danger. By a vote of 295-178 it was decided to send an expedition ("investigatory commission") to examine the territory proposed.

While Herzl made it clear that this program would not affect the ultimate aim of Zionism, a Jewish entity in the Land of Israel, the proposal aroused a storm at the Congress and nearly led to a split in the Zionist movement. The Jewish Territorialist Organization (ITO) was formed as a result of the unification of various groups who had supported Herzl's Uganda proposals during the period 1903-1905.

The Uganda Program was finally rejected by the Zionist movement at the Seventh Zionist Congress in 1905, but Nahum Syrkin and Israel Zangwill called an alternative conference to continue the plan of the Uganda scheme. (see the enclosed link)
But this is an evidence that the motivation to establish a jewish state in Palestine was not relegious at all as they claimed. It was an attempt to gather Jewish people all over the world. Besides they were detested by Europeans who wanted to get rid of them so they with Europeans were looking for a nother place to live in.
In the other way, if they chose Argentina to live in , they would have done the same tactics they used in Palestine. They would have made up pretext that they have devine rights to settle in Argentina and they would falsefied evedences that they where there before the people of Argentina. Argentina will not be enough for them so they would look aggressively to their neighbour countries as they are doing now.

if by the world you mean the "palestinians", then no.

they would have been far worse off without israel to support them all those years.

also when they were kicked out of other arab countries, they would have had no place to go.

the U.S. would not have such a powerfull ally in the middle east and argentininan arabs would find some other excuse to blow up israeli children.

EDIT: I highly doubt israel would be fighting the irish and catholics. I'm sure there would be prejudice there- there is always prejudice (the irish and english can't even get along- why didn't thy just take a chill pill, get wasted and watch some south park).

the israelis took a worthless peice of desert and turned it into an economic and industiral heaven. if the arabs had it it would still be worthless. if you had given them a land that already had some value like argentina, they would have turned it into a far far more powerfull country than it is now.

the only benefit might be that we wouldn't have to deal with fake krav maga people going around pretending that thier unpracticed "eye pokes" would work in real life when they have never trained it as there is a clear difference between military and civillian krav.

Hello,

I think the Isrealis are entrenched mentally where they want to be but I did hear Neten-yahoo say a few years back that Isreal would much rather have Canada, for example as a neighbor. Anyway, I am sure thoughts like this do cross the minds of some Isrealis at times.

Cheers,

Uganda was also touted, however, the Russian delegates to the Zionist congress rejected it and they were the country that needed a Jewish state the most.

Oh, my!

That is an interesting quote.

The battles that have been fought and the hearts that have yearned for Israel, for Jerusalem!

Nowhere on earth is a land more loved and cherished.

After Jerusalem was conquered in 597 BC, and the inhabitants carried off to Babylon, the Psalmist wrote: "By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion." Psalms 137:1

All of the descendants of Father Abraham claim that land - so many claim it as their homeland - it has been a focus for conflict over the millennia.

"The land of Canaan was promised to Abraham and his descendants, even though he never personally possessed it (see Genesis 17:7; 13:15; 17:8). “The Lord gave the promise to Abraham that he should have Palestine, or the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession. Yet, as Stephen said at the time of his martyrdom, Abraham never received as much as a foot of it as a possession while he lived. “Then what did the Lord mean in making a promise to Abraham of that kind, giving him that portion of the earth as an everlasting possession for himself and his posterity, the righteous part of it, forever? Simply this, that the time would eventually come, after the resurrection from the dead, when Abraham and his children who have been faithful in the keeping of the commandments of the Lord, should possess that land, and they shall also spread forth as far as it is necessary for them to receive an inheritance.” (Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, 1:88.)

The scriptures prophecy of the future gathering of Israel and the return of the Jews to Palestine.

Gathering of Israel

Restoration of Israel

On October 24, [1841,] a Sunday, Elder Orson Hyde of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints dedicated the land of Israel for the return of the Jews.

"He asked the Lord to inspire “kings and the powers of the earth” to help “restore the kingdom unto Israel.” He also prayed that the Lord would remember his promises to all the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

Remember Isaiah 49:22-23?

Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

Remember the part the U.K. (England) played in opening the land of Palestine for the return of the Jews in the early 20th century?

Isaiah's prophecy was fulfilled.

nonsense.

it would make no sense at all in much of any capacity, theres a historical reason why israel is israel. like 3000 years ago there was a historical kingdom of israel in that area, centered out of jerusalem.
