Yes. Health care workers can be infected by accidental needle sticks and by contact with blood from wounds, etc. The most common ways are still sexual contact and use of contaminated needles by drug users. You cannot get HIV from donating blood, however it is a good way to get tested for free. All donated blood is screened for HIV, so it is very rare to get it from a transfusion any more.

Yes HIV can be transmitted by blood - however in the hospitals, labs and blood donor places, they screen for HIV before putting in the blood banks.
People are still dying more so from unprotected sex, men on the DAL (Down Low) meaning that they have sex with men and then go home to their wives or girlfriends and spread it to them.
Women in heterosexual relationships are catching it from men who are bringing the disease home.
You can get HIV from sharing of needles which occurs with most drug addicts, you can catch it from being exposed through sex, and having multiple partners and having unprotected sex.
Since 1999 and beyond the blood banks have been checked for HIV, HPV, TB and Hepatitis. The American Blood banks are least of our worries about Aids and HIV, it is for us to look into the way we conduct our sexual life.

Two MAIN ways people get infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS:
1. Sexual contact with body fluids (ie. semen)
2. Contaminated Blood products
Your answer: Yes, absolutely
Other means of transmission are also possible, ie. mother-to-child at birth, vaccines (one theory of the AIDS virus was that it was created by the US government and then purposefully concealed as "Vaccine" to try to control the rapidly expanding population in Africa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIDS_conspiracy_theories)

Yes. Blood is a bodily fluid. If someone else's blood gets into your system and they have HIV, you could get it also.

people are dying cause people don't educate themselves---aids is transmitted by blood or body fluids. so where it is ok to shake hands, hug but bewareof having sex with partners WITHOUT PROTECTION----more than blood it's unprotected sex that is an issue
