Not any worse than that of a women.
In regards to damage caused to the environment, the quantities of methane released by humans farting is NOTHING compared to the destructive gases released when driving cars and burning fossil fuels. So, scientifically, methane is damaging to the environment, albeit, not something to be worrying about in terms the earths atmosphere.

Hey, women fart. If I eat BK onion rings I can blow the doors off and require a hazmat team for extraction. I've made dogs wake up and move and they roll in crap for fun.
Cow farts are much more of a problem actually.

Yes... bad for the environment of his insides!
Put him on Gas-X, but until then, let him pass all the gas he needs to. Something could be wrong with his insides; Watch what he eats, eliminate gas-causing foods, and have him see a doc if it continues to happen after the Gas-X and diet changes.

Actually farts are gases that come from our body, so yes, if you imagine how many people fart per minute everyday, i would say it is air pollution.
