i got my nails done yesterday at a vietnamese salon..it's an inexpensive place (but so are ALL the vietnamese places...) i was supposed to pay 30 for a mani/pedi and 7 each for french tip (14, total, right?). anyway.

when i first walked in, they were NOT busy, and the lady took her time. then people started walking in like a mad house, and she started to do someone else's nails (removed polish) half way through MY pedicure. she didn't wash her hands between clients, and either way, overall she was way too rushed. then when it came time to do MY manicure, she was cutting my cuticles and made me bleed, TWICE. oh and she did a halfass job on my topcoat. or at least i feel like it.

for some reason, when i went to pay, my total came out to be 36 dollars...i tipped her 1 dollar because of the horrible service, regardless that she charged me less. was that wrong?

You did just right. Horrible service gets horrible tips.

Did you tell them WHY they got a horrible tip?

I wouldn't have tipped at all. I am big on service and quality of service. I don't expect people to fall all over me, but treat me like I am an important client. If you feel she did a half *** job on the topcoat than she did! Simple as that. You're paying for services. If you're not satisfied then they didn't take care of your needs properly. Find another salon.

No, tips are for good service.... Would you tip a waiter who brought you half cooked food??or made you eat w/a knife? I hate that too! i will tip really good but when they jip me out of a good rub or barely push back the cuticle that makes me mad. I could give myself a crappy mani/pedi, THAT IS WHY WE PAY THEM!!!! Did you at least get a band -aid?? I would of been mad that she made me bleed, I might have bit her!!

That sounds really bad. She should have taken her time, busy or not. If people come in and its busy, they should know they have to wait anyway. I wouldnt have tipped more than that either esp. if she made my cuticles bleed. If that starts to happen again, you should get up and leave and go to a different salon.

I think she was aware of the shoddy service. And *personally* I might have left a bit more because of the discount. But I don't tip well once I start bleeding.

No, it wasn't wrong. In addition to the lower tip, you should have said something to the owner or manager. I live in the Atlanta area and there are nail places on every corner so it's really easy to take your business somewhere else.

You're way better than me! First I would have left her NO tip! Second I would tell the woman off and talk to her manager!

I would contact the manager....and please remember you have the right to tell someone to wash there hands. Im not trying to scare you but she didnt wash her hands and cut you ??? do you realise what risks you put yourself in to be polite.???Not worth it. I would of asked her to wash her hands and if she gave me any attitude I would of walked out the door. without paying.
