Does he have a dad? Put some colorful loop cherrios, or trix in the toilet. and tell him to aim and shoot at them. That helps!

I dont really agree with putting pull ups on an 11 year old because he isnt peeing his pants, which is what pull ups are for. If he was wetting his pants it would be different but he is just peeing on the toilet which sadly A LOT of boys do. Just make sure he leaves the toilet seat up when he pees and if he gets pee on the toilet then make him clean it up. This will get him to quit peeing on the toilet. Pull ups though are over the top to me.

have you taken him to the dr.? there might be a reason. if there is nothing wrong with him besides being small, then i would make him clean the toilet every time he pees on it. a couple times of that, and he will aim better. pull up, just let him continue what he is doing with out having to get up and go to the bathroom. my son is 9, i started when he was young, if he missed the inside, and peed on the outside, he wiped it up. to this day, if he misses, he cleans it up him self. except now that he is older, he knows to use the clorox bathroom cleaner. im not trying to sound mean to you or anything, but everytime he misses, make him clean the toilet, if he has to clean it enough, he wont miss anymore.

What you are doing is creepy and weird. You are going to send him straight to therapy if you keep that up. Instead, you need to sit him down and talk to him. Explain to him that he is way past the age where you had to take care of his messes. Get some Lysol wipes and put them on the back of the toilet and make him get in the habit of wiping it down when he is done. Tell him if you find pee on the toilet you are going to ground him from something...say video games or something like that. Your son is saying this situation is unfair, and he is right. The punishment isn't fitting the crime. Your son is also saying that this isn't his fault, and he is also right...because you aren't making him take ADULT type responsibility for himself.

I started putting the toilet seat UP after I was done.

Wearing a pullup isn't doing anything for his self esteem. If anything you are damaging it. Why don't you ask him to sit on the toilet instead of standing infront of it. I have a friend that including her husband and boy children all sit on the toilet and so there is no mess. I have a 7 year old that does it too. This will solve both your problem and his.

I think that making a healthy, potty trained 11 year old wear pull-ups is demeaning and humiliating. I have a 9 year old and wouldn't dream of doing that to him as any form of punishment.
I would try buying some Clorox wipes and make him clean the toilet after himself. Pretty soon he will get tired of the cleaning and take better aim.
Making him wear a pull-up is hurtful in my opinion.

Wow you are harsh! My husband is 26 and can't hit the toilet, lol. Anyways, I don't think putting him in pullups is going to fix this. If the wrong person finds out about this they could turn you in for child abuse. Try putting something in the toilet such as cereal (cheerios) and have your son aim in the hole of the cheerio. I would just rather clean the toilet you could traumatize your son for life. He may start peeing his pants again.

he will never learn if you dont let him try and make mistakes , buy some cleaning wipes and tell him if he pees on the seat he has to clean it up , dont put nappies on an eleven year old youll dent his confidence and cause him upset and embarressment he knows how to use the toilet hes just a little messy , put up the saying behind the loo saying "if you sprinkle when you tinkle be a sweet and wipe the seat" he ll soon learn , dont shout just make him clean it himself he ll soon be more careful peeing when he realises youl make him clean it up good luck. ohh also get his eyes checked he might not be able to see the toilet properly.

I can't imagine forcing a child to wear pull ups because his aim is poor. As the parent of a child with urinary issues who has to wear pull ups, and is devastated at age 10 to need to wear them, and terrified someone will find out, I think this has got to be horrific for his self esteem, and probably your relationship with him. Why not keep a can of Clorox wipes or some similar product nearby, and let him clean up after himself instead? That seems to me as though it would be far less damaging to him emotionally, and there may still be time to salvage your mother-son relationship. If it isn't already destroyed, my guess is that isn't too far off.

It is not too much to ask of an 11 year old to raise the lid and take aim. However, the pull up thing is NOT the answer. If anyone ever found out about them, they would make his life pure hell. Don't think for a minute no one would find out. Remember when you were a kid around your friends? "My mom is sooo mean, she takes away my gameboy if I don't pick up my towels and put them in the hamper." His answer...."That's nothing. My mom makes me wear pull ups if I sprinkle the seat!" This is a very realistic scenario.
You got some really good answers here, the Fruit Loops in particular. The "sit down to go" was good too.
Don't make him resent you, and he will....forever.
