Ths is my son first year (pre-k) the teacher pinned the bus rider papers to their shirts with name and address on it. i go to get my son and 3 kids get off and dont even live there. (prek students) my son wasnt on the bus he was still at the school. i didnt have my car and i also had my 1 years old and my 2 year old and we had to WALK without a stroller to the school and he was the only one still sitting there alone, all the other kids were gone for the day. this has always been my worst fear that hed get dropped off in the wrong spot and someone steals him. the parents just wait on the side so the diver doenst kno whos kid is who. there was another black kid waiting in the school and they sent her out thinking she belongs to me!!! if i was looking for kids to steal all i'd have to do is wait at the bus stop or walk up to the school and theyll just give me one to steal and wouldnt think twice. this is horrible. my son is still learning his address!! what ur opinion?? mom's help!!

My daughter just started Kindergarten Wednesday. This is a fear for me also. Except her school is pretty good about making sure they get on the right bus. They put little bus necklaces on with their name and the bus number. Our bus driver knows that I am her mother. My suggestion to you is to call the school immediately and tell them what happened. The bus garage needs to inform the bus drivers that they need to get aquainted with the parents as well. This is dangerous. This could tramatize your child. This day and age we are never to safe. Thankfully the teacher and the aide make sure our children get on the right bus. This is my biggest fear also. I could only image the emotions you were going through.

this has happened to me. It was 4 years ago, it was my daughters 1st day on a bus and she was going to kindergarden. I put her on the bus that morning, I waited for her at the bus stop, she didn't get off. I went to the bus driver and asked where's my daughter? They called the school other bus drivers, everthing. it took them 30 min to find my daughter. She was in the after school program. They had her name messed up with another student.

Since that day, my daughter has had her own cell phone. I was scared to dealth. Luckily, I did have a car and I feel for you. there are alot of kids the schools deal with and im sure mistakes happen all the time, but these are our children and and the schools have our kids life in their hands and we are at their mercy.

I suggest going to a board meeting, and bring the issue up. I would also talk with the other parents in your neighborhood, if there are some. Work out a plan that one parent a week makes sure all the kids get on or off the bus. We do that in our neighborhood, we have 14 kids that get on and get off the bus each day. Most under the age of 10. Get to know the bus driver so the driver can see if a stranger is there.

Thats all we can do, parents need to stick together. Your doing good by teaching your son the address phone etc. He also needs to know, how to get home, I have tought my kids the cross streets and when we drive I point out roads and such so they can actually get home if they were dropped off at the wrong bus stop. (pray that don't happen).

Yes, it scared me to death!!

Complain to the school. Your son should not be sitting alone outside and they should be checking the id on any person picking up a child. They should be calling you if he's missed his bus.

Our school buses have a number AND a picture of an animal. Kids remember they ride the Green Monkey Bus instead of just a number You might suggest this to the school. It's pretty inexpensive to add an animal.

It's not your son't fault, but you need to work with him on what to do in situations like that. Tell him that he suppose to ride bus #12 , but if he misses the bus, to go and tell the teacher and ask the teacher to call you. Tell him to not get on another bus or walk home or go with any one except a teacher.

I put an index card in my kids back back that has their name, my name, our address, my home phone & cell number; the daycare name and number and the number of other people to call if I can't be reached. I told them to leave that in their bag and if they got left a school or got on a wrong bus, to give that to the teacher or the bus driver. Even if he knows his address and phone number, he might forget if he gets scared and stressed out.

Would it be possible for you and the other kids to walk to the school every day and walk home with him? It would be good exercise. The younger kids would love it (in a stroller of course). For the first week of school, I generally go to the school and help my son "find" his bus. I don't pick him up, but I wait outside and let him find his bus and then he rides it to the daycare. This seems to have worked really well for us.

That is CRAZY! I would go down to the school and complain I would have freeked out on them. My son just started kindergarten also and he is in after care at the school. In his school he is assigned a 6th grade student to get him off the bus in the morning and get him to his class and then when it is over he goes and picks him up from his classroom and brings him into the aftercare room. Each kindergarten student has a 6th grade child assigned to them for the first 1/2 of the year until they learn the ropes and then they do it by them selves. I live in Florida and I have to say by them doing this it makes me feel a little better. I wish you the best of luck and I would go raise some trouble

my son was sent home on the wrong bus he was in kindergarten he was supposed to go to the babysitters and they sent him home to an empty house my babysitter called my work luckily i only worked 15 minutes away from home and all turned out ok except my neighbor threatening to call children services i just told her to go ahead and call but she better have her facts tell them that the school sent him on the wrong bus and after that i made sure he could recognize his bus drivers and knew where he was going that day and also made cards with the bus number and had him carry it so he would know and introduced him to the bus drivers and sent notes for each bus driver to make sure they knew where he should be too talk to the bus driver in the morning make sure he or she knows your child and the bus driver then can help you keep an eye out also

We have 5th graders from each bus at our school that take the kindergarteners and put them on the right bus. One day (Monday), a boy didn't know he was on bus duty so he left the little girl at school. Poor Girl! We all yelled at him the next day.

that has happened to me twice. the first time he was in kindergarden, the bus driver made him get off at the wrong stop. luckily, against my boyfriends wishes, i put his name and my cell phone number on a tag on his back pack. i was on the phone with the school, trying to figure out where my son was, when i got a call, asking if my name was della, and did i have a son named timothy. i freaked out and said yes, where is he. he was about 6 blocks from my house. i got her address, and told her i would be right there, as i was walking because my car was broke down, it was raining, so she told me dont worry, she would drive my son up to my house. i was lucky that day. it was a good woman who seen my son standing on the street corner looking so scared, and trying his best not to cry. she said she waited a few minutes, then realized something was wrong, so she went out side. the 2nd time, i send a note to the school, in the morning, telling them not to put my son on the bus after school, because i would be there to pick him up. i even called a half hour before dis missal time to remind them i was going th be there to pick him up. i got to the school, to pick him up, and they could not find him. they got the bus driver, who said he just dropped him off at his bus stop. i was mad. i sped home, scared about my 5 year old being alone, (he has to cross a semi busy street) to find him sitting on my front porch with a lady. i jumped out of my truck, she told me he was standing at the corner, trying to cross, he looked at her and said he needs help crossing the street. so she walked across the street with him, and sat on my porch with him till i got home.she didnt want to leave him sitting outside by himself. i told her thank you so very much, and explained to her what happened. she understood. i yelled at the school both times, they just had excuses.i live in a city, with all kinds of weird people, i was very lucky both times it happened, that i got somebody decent to help my son. well, lets just say for the last couple of years my son has had a pre paid cell phone that he keeps in his back pack for emercencys like that. he is now 9 years old, and in the 4th grade.

OMG wow!!! I would SERIOUSLY talk to the school. that is NOT acceptable!!! AT ALL! Contact the principal and insist you have a meeting TODAY. There is NO reason for that.
