About the Trinity or (father, jesus, holy spirit)?

Question

to cristians or catholics or whoever has a view.... why do they believe in these three things alll together?? what is the holy spirit?? Isn't jesus god's son??? did not jesus speak to god?? then aren't they different people??

please explain...

I'm not sure why people believe in the trinity, but I do know it is a false doctrine. Most people that come from the Catholic belief or have Catholic beliefs like Christians usually think that the Trinity concept is found in the Bible when it's not. The persons that came with this idea(theory) was Tertullian and Origen.

To the trinity view; people misinterpet the texts to be what they want it to be without understanding what it is talking about; they believe it is a mystery. For instance they believe they are three in one which means: they believe all are God: God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Without using God's help; most can interpet scripture the wrong way like trinitarians do. For instance they site John 10:30 and say that Jesus is the same being as God. Well many confuse this text in John 10:30 to say Jesus and God are one and the same person; but this text doesn't mean that.
Go back to verse 29; doesn't it say that Jesus's Father is greater than him. So as you see you were right; they are seperate people. Another thing is that trinitarians think the Holy Spirit is a person without knowing the Greek words discussed below.

Tertullian (ca.150-225) was the first writer to use the term "trinity" (New Theological Dictionary, p. 1,054).
If we look in the late second and early third centuries; we see the Catholic theologian names Tertullian and Origen keep coming up.
The term trinity was not "revealed" until more than 150 years after Jesus Christ's crucifixion and resurrection.
If this teaching were true; why was it revealed later? Did Christ's disciples know about this doctrine; if they did; why didn't they explain it?
If we search the scriptures; we see the disciples taught a very different explanation of God.

(KJV BIBLE)There are 3 that protestants claim about the trinity; they're JOHN 14 & 15 and 1JOHN 5:7. To start out 1JOHN 5:7 was never in any of the inspired Greek manuscripts; so this knocks out one. As for John 14 & 15; the Greek word for "helper" is paracletos; one who helps inwhich points to the Holy Spirit. In Greek, the word "He" is neuter such as "hand" is feminine whether it is a woman's hand or male's hand. As for the word "paracletos" it is masculine and always require a masculine pronoun. This however doesn't prove personhood as you've noticed.
But as you've noticed, these texts don't prove Jesus is God or the Holy Spirit.

Now touching on the HOLY SPIRIT; the Holy Spirit is a power(Luke 1:35= "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the "Son of God.") where God and Jesus make their presence known in the hearts and minds of believers(1John 3:24 = "And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."). The believers of god and Jesus will have this love poured on them (Rom.5:5 = "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us.") It will teach them understanding and wisdom of God's Word (John 14:16,17,20,23,26 = "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. So what does John 10:30 really means--when it says "I and my Father are one?" Well let's go further down to John 10:38. Doesn't it tell us that God and Jesus are alike and similar in actions, features, and etc? Take a Father with his son or a Mother with her daughter; do they have characteristics like you; but does that mean they're you? No of course not; they're seperate, but are alike in different ways.

To understand this better if God are all three persons; then that would deny Jesus as the son of God; wouldn't it? Because you're saying that God is all 3 and the same; aren't you?
Most people say Jesus is God; how can this be? What happened to Jesus then, if Jesus is God or what happened to God if Jesus is God?

Now from these two texts; it tells us there's two persons: one is God and one is Jesus the son of God; a man approved of God. Now as we have determined Jesus can't be God.

The Bible contradicts the Trinity teaching over and over. Now if Jesus was a trinity (which is unbiblical), that would mean he didn't come fully in the flesh = 1John 4:3.
How can Jesus be God and talk to himself? Also if Jesus was God on the earth; that would mean he was a spirit; we know this wasn't true because of 1John 4:2-3 and 2Jn.1:7.

The Father is triune. The Son is triune. The Holy Spirit is triune. If the Holy Spirit is not a divine person (as Jehovah's Witnesses insist), then God would be biune and the Son would be biune: i.e. two persons comprising the One God. But as three persons comprise the One God (none created, all the same Creator) that means there cannot be a Trinity if any of the persons cease to exist. JWs teach that the created Jesus ceased to exist at his physical death, I believe. This explains why they cannot begin to understand the Trinity doctrine. Have a blessed day! Oh, and further to Lifelong Student's point about non-JWs giving slightly different answers: that's because they're trying to express this immense concept in a few lines, which is impossible. To quote all the scriptures that prove the Trinity would take about 100 pages on here. Sadly, JW answers are entirely predictable because they never respond to all the assorted points non-JWs make. JWs just repeat the same old straw-man arguments they have read in their literature. Go on - prove me wrong! Answer: The most difficult thing about the Christian concept of the Trinity is that there is no way to adequately explain it. The Trinity is a concept that is impossible for any human being to fully understand, let alone explain. God is infinitely greater than we are, therefore we should not expect to be able to fully understand Him. The Bible teaches that the Father is God, that Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. The Bible also teaches that there is only one God. Though we can understand some facts about the relationship of the different persons of the Trinity to one another, ultimately, it is incomprehensible to the human mind. However, this does not mean it is not true or not based on the teachings of the Bible.

Keep in mind when studying this subject that the word "Trinity" is not used in Scripture. This is a term that is used to attempt to describe the triune God, the fact that there are 3 coexistent, co-eternal persons that make up God. Understand that this is NOT in any way suggesting 3 Gods. The Trinity is 1 God made up of 3 persons. There is nothing wrong with using the term "Trinity" even though the word is not found in the Bible. It is shorter to say the word "Trinity" than to say "3 coexistent, co-eternal persons making up 1 God." If this presents a problem to you, consider this: the word grandfather is not used in the Bible either. Yet, we know there were grandfathers in the Bible. Abraham was the grandfather of Jacob. So don't get hung up on the term "Trinity" itself. What should be of real importance is that the concept that is REPRESENTED by the word "Trinity" does exist in Scripture. With the introduction out of the way, Bible verses will be given in discussion of the Trinity.

1) There is one God: Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5.

2) The Trinity consists of three Persons: Genesis 1:1; 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Isaiah 6:8; 48:16; 61:1; Matthew 3:16-17; Matt 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14. In the passages in the Old Testament, a knowledge of Hebrew is helpful. In Genesis 1:1, the plural noun "Elohim" is used. In Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:7 and Isaiah 6:8, the plural pronoun for "us" is used. That "Elohim" and "us" refer to more than two is WITHOUT question. In English, you only have two forms, singular and plural. In Hebrew, you have three forms: singular, dual, and plural. Dual is for two ONLY. In Hebrew, the dual form is used for things that come in pairs like eyes, ears, and hands. The word "Elohim" and the pronoun "us" are plural forms - definitely more than two - and must be referring to three or more (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).

In Isaiah 48:16 and 61:1, the Son is speaking while making reference to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Compare Isaiah 61:1 to Luke 4:14-19 to see that it is the Son speaking. Matthew 3:16-17 describes the event of Jesus' baptism. Seen in this is God the Holy Spirit descending on God the Son while God the Father proclaims His pleasure in the Son. 3) The members of the Trinity are distinguished one from another in various passages: In the Old Testament, "LORD" is distinguished from "Lord" (Genesis 19:24; Hosea 1:4). The "LORD" has a "Son" (Psalm 2:7, 12; Proverbs 30:2-4). Spirit is distinguished from the "LORD" (Numbers 27:18) and from "God" (Psalm 51:10-12). God the Son is distinguished from God the Father (Psalm 45:6-7; Hebrews 1:8-9). In the New Testament, John 14:16-17 is where Jesus speaks to the Father about sending a Helper, the Holy Spirit. This shows that Jesus did not consider Himself to be the Father or the Holy Spirit. Consider also all of the other times in the Gospels where Jesus speaks to the Father. Was He speaking to Himself? No. He spoke to another person in the Trinity - the Father.

4) Each member of the Trinity is God: The Father is God: John 6:27; Romans 1:7; 1 Peter 1:2. The Son is God: John 1:1, 14; Romans 9:5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 1:8; 1 John 5:20. The Holy Spirit is God: Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 3:16 (The One who indwells is the Holy Spirit - Romans 8:9; John 14:16-17; Acts 2:1-4).

5) The subordination within the Trinity: Scripture shows that the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Father and the Son, and the Son is subordinate to the Father. This is an internal relationship, and does not deny the deity of any person of the Trinity. This is simply an area which our finite minds cannot understand concerning the infinite God. Concerning the Son see: Luke 22:42; John 5:36; John 20:21; 1 John 4:14. Concerning the Holy Spirit see: John 14:16; 14:26; 15:26; 16:7 and especially John 16:13-14.

6) The tasks of the individual members of the Trinity: The Father is the ultimate source or cause of: 1) the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11); 2) divine revelation (Revelation 1:1); 3) salvation (John 3:16-17); and 4) Jesus' human works (John 5:17; 14:10). The Father INITIATES all of these things.

The Son is the agent through whom the Father does the following works: 1) the creation and maintenance of the universe (1 Corinthians 8:6; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17); 2) divine revelation (John 1:1; Matthew 11:27; John 16:12-15; Revelation 1:1); and 3) salvation (2 Corinthians 5:19; Matthew 1:21; John 4:42). The Father does all these things through the Son, who functions as His agent.

The Holy Spirit is the means by whom the Father does the following works: 1) creation and maintenance of the universe (Genesis 1:2; Job 26:13; Psalm 104:30); 2) divine revelation (John 16:12-15; Ephesians 3:5; 2 Peter 1:21); 3) salvation (John 3:6; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:2); and 4) Jesus' works (Isaiah 61:1; Acts 10:38). Thus the Father does all these things by the power of the Holy Spirit.

None of the popular illustrations are completely accurate descriptions of the Trinity. The egg (or apple) fails in that the shell, white, and yolk are parts of the egg, not the egg in themselves. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not parts of God, each of them is God. The water illustration is somewhat better but still fails to adequately describe the Trinity. Liquid, vapor, and ice are forms of water. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not forms of God, each of them is God. So, while these illustrations may give us a picture of the Trinity, the picture is not entirely accurate. An infinite God cannot be fully described by a finite illustration. Instead of focusing on the Trinity, try to focus on the fact of God's greatness and infinitely higher nature than our own. "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" (Romans 11:33-34)

The trinity just does not make sense. Then they try to say I am not a christian because I believe God and Jesus are not the same God. We believe that God is the Father, Jesus is the son and the Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead who resides in spirit.
The reason they think that is for the most part Jesus is the God in the Old testament, he is also referred to as Jehovah. He was the one who under the direction of God the father that made the earth and all on it. However Jesus himself shows clearly that he is not the father. In one of my answers yesterday I explained it more clearly using a parable to a business if you would like to go back into my answers and look it up.

To completely understand this takes a revelation from God. You need to study the scriptures yourself. From Genesis to Revelation.

1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Notice who John called the Father.

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Notice what his name is The mighty God, everlasting Father.

In John chapter 14 reveals the Holy Ghost. Jesus is talking of the spirit of truth he said the Father will send in my name (Christ in you). Jesus also says I will come to you.

This can be very confusing, remember great is the mystery of God.

1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Notice God was MANIFEST IN THE FLESH.
Justified in the spirit.

I agree, the Father Son and Hold Ghost are 3 separate individuals!

The Father, is also our Father (of our spirits only) he was the physical father of Jesus. Jesus being the Son and our redeemer! He paid the price for our sins and in doing so made it so he is our savior, while the demands of Justice are still being met for the Father. The Holy Ghost is without physical body for now, so he can testify and witness to us about the Father and Son, as well as other truths.
The three work together as one, referred to as the "God head" in that the Son dose nothing but what he has seen the Father do. and If we do not know the Son we do not know the Father etc.
A church that teaches this concept very clearly is the LDS church, known as Mormons to most people. In the source list I have included a link the their web site.

Sometimes the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

Are you more than one person speaking with yourself?
Jesus was the flesh of God and in his flesh was in submission to the Father this is our example of how a man should be we should follow the spirit and not the flesh as Jesus himself did.
Jesus was God in the flesh and had to overcome temptation as a man and depended on his Father in heaven in order to accomplish what no mere man can do.
