Subs
just to name a few.
As sandwiches grew more popular the marketing gimmickers had to come up with new and better meat and cheese sandwich names.

A sub is what a long piece of bread with food on it (comes from submarine) and is called this in the northeast. Going south , you could see them called Sandwiches, Hoogies, Roman sub's, and etc.

because.. subway is becoming more popular than macdonalds. they are playing on fashionable words to make sales and become richer than the shareholders already are. don't be sucked in.
