My cat did this same thing, and he did get hit. There was this small pothole that he would curl up in, and one day i guess he couldn't get out. I totally agree with making the road a less pleasant place. Would it be possible to run a garden hose on her area till she loses interest? If not, than maybe a one of those high powered water guns. I know this sounds terrible, but as a last resort you can use a BB gun with rock salt instead of BB's. the salt will leave a whelt but at least she will be alive. Salt also has some kind of infection fighting property's, so she should be fine as long as you don't shoot her in the eye.
by the way, My cat is buried in the woods in some place that we don't even live anymore. ACT NOW!!!

I would not be letting this cat outdoors. Either keep her inside or build a cat enclosure in your yard to prevent her going out on the road. Cat enclosures can be built yourself at relatively low cost - just do a bit of research on the internet. Good luck!

It probably lays there because the tarmac is warm because of the sun. Also because of the space. Try getting a square of tarmac or something similar and lay it in the sun, put the cat on it and hope it goes there instead of the road from now on.

I agree that she is probably sitting in a hot spot, but also agree you must stop her doing this- and again, I agree, water is a cat's worst enemy so soak her when she's out there and I'm sure she'll find somewhere safer to sit!

Your cat probably loves the heat from the blacktop- I KNEW, and notice I stress the word knew, a dog who did this. You should try helping her find a safer hot spot to sun bath- maybe on your roof?

She's probably doing it because it's warm. You'll probably have to do something to scare her away from the road, and do it repeatedly so that she associates the fright with the road. You have to make the road less appealing to her.
Good luck!

animals usually sit in the road because it holds heat and is very warm. The only way to stop it is to cage her.

If you have a back door or another way out your house, let your cat out that way. He will get used to playing or lying somewhere else.

She is showing the world who is boss. I'm not sure what you can do about it. Borrowing a big dog might put her in her place. I shouldn't worry about it too much, she knows what she is doing.
