In the beginning I was for the war. We needed to get rid of Saddam. Just like we should have gotten rid of Pol Pot in Cambodia, Idi Amin in Uganda, etc...no strategic value there, though and no oil, so we ignore the inhumanities that took place there.
We have given the Iraqis plenty of time to get their act together and it is high time we unass the AO, and get our troops home. They are no longer worth the lives we are losing over there now and haven't been for a couple of years now. We gave the Iraqi Government a time line to meet specific goals. They haven't met them, so we give them new ones. They don't meet them. Screw'em. Enough is enough. Take our troops out and invest the billions of dollars in America.
Our troops have done all that has been asked of them, have done a fantastic job under the worst circumstances. I love'em and want them home.

Your question is to vague.
Am I happy that the US is involved in this war, No im not. But we have an obligation to the Iraqi people. If we pull out, then many more innocent Iraqis will die. Just like Vietnam, once we pulled out, millions of innocent people died over there... The same thing would happen if we leave Iraq, and let the Radical Islamic Terrorists take over.
So to answer your question the best I can, I dont like the fact we are there, but I support the mission. I support the idea that Iraqis deserve a better life, and our troops being over there are saving more lives than if we were to pull out. I do feel we need to help them as best we can.

I was never against the war per se. I just feel that if you aren't there to fight the war to win the war then you shouldn't be there. If the mission is now to protect the new Iraqi government, then, I do not think we should be doing that forever and ever.

All the credible sources, even the KGB,said Saddam was building WMD's.
Bill Clinton said Saddam was building WMD's.
Saddam said he had WMD's and would use them against us.
After defeating Saddam,we had a responsibility to take charge, just as we did in Japan and Germany, and help them get back on their feet.
You have several factions including foriegn powers ( IRAN ) trying to take over the country and it's oil reserves. They are trying to do this by bombs and bullets, rather than ballots.
Elections have been held, the Iraqi people voted in a government.
That government is struggling to get strong enough to survive
in the face of it's enemies and bring peace.
We are in a PEACEKEEPING role at this point.
The goal is STABILITY.
Imagine, what would happen if IRAN was able to take over, link up with Syria ,control the oil fields and the sea ports.
As soon as the Iraqi's can handle the situation,I want us to stage a slow draw down, not a panicked retreat, until we are totally out of there.
How long it will take is up to the insurgents and the foreign terrorists, the sooner they die or give up and go home, the faster we can draw down.

I think people have forgotten 9/11 already. We went over there to stop Hussein, the human massacres and the supposed WMD. We are trying to help the Iraqis start their new government and get them on their feet again. We should start pulling out as soon as that is done. I was for the war, but now we should let them handle their county themselves.

are you asking if I am for an imperialist war, a war for resources, an invasion of a country that did not threaten or attack us, a war that has cost us 100's of billions of dollars for which we have not and will not get anything in return except more violence, less safety, damaged respect in the world? There were no WMD....we knew that before the war....Hans Blix and the other inspectors knew that and told the world. Anyone for this war is a MORON!

I'm very much against the war in Iraq. There was no legitimate reason to start it in the first place and it's turned into a fiasco that's caused the deaths of thousands. In my opinion the administration needs to admit it was wrong and just bring the troops home but sadly that isn't going to happen.

Against because I do not see the advantages: but then I do not belong to Bush's family and entourage, most of whom served with Big Oil companies before joining the cabinet - and who, therefore still have interest in the big oil reserves to be found in Irak.

I used to be for it, when I thought we had a plan. At this point I do not know why we're there (there's GOT to be some other reason than 'helping the Iraqi government'). My husband is in the army, and he doesn't even understand it. Extending the deployments was a chiefly terrible decision. Everything is going wrong, and it would be graceful of us to bow out and let the Iraqis figure it out.

That question is one of great contradiction for me. To an extent yes I am for the war, but I believe that we have lost what we are really fighting for. I am not for Bush. I wish he would have never gotten into office. but unfortunatly he was probably the best choice. Yet I am against the war. I have family that went over seas and yes they are home now but I do believe that Bush was mainly trying to finish was his daddy started. 9-11 just gave him more reason to go over and start the crap. We should have left Sadam alone! he was the only one to be able to control those people because he scared them to listen to him. Look at them now. There is no way we will ever be able to make them a stable country. They have to want it first. And there is just to much diversity of there own kind there. I must say I am truely torn between staying and leaving. Our poor souldiers are over there seeing how us americans are acting and there are those who hate our own for being there. Its not our decision to be there its our commander in chief "Bush". Those poor men. I know it must be so hard to be there hearing your own people talk down on you. Well I still believe in them and I love our soldiers. If it werent for them who would fight for our freedom. Them staying up all night watching out for us is what lets us sleep peacfully at night. I believe almost everyone has lost touch with what our freedom is all about. Its so easy to take for granted all the things we have for we do have it alot better than others. I just hope that they are able to come home soon. I miss my cousin and I will be soooo happy when the next presidental election comes around! GOODBYE BUSH!!!!
