strengths were that Indians such as the Aztecs had an advanced irrigation system to water their crops. they mainly raised corn but they did raise a few other crops as well. corn was their most important crop because it was easy to grow and it helped them feed their vast populations. when the other Indian nations discovered corn or maize they were able to stay in one place and not have to move around following animals anymore. with the introduction of corn from the Aztecs they gave up their nomadic status forever. i really don't see any weaknesses with their agriculture because they were able to easily feed their huge populations with maize before the Europeans arrived and disease and war almost wiped them out. Before the Europeans arrived the most advanced Indian civilizations in the Americas were the Incas in Peru, Mayans in the valley of Mexico, and the Mayans in the Yucatan peninsula.

The strength was that it fed the little indian kids. The weakness, unfortunately, is that it didn't protect them from whitey. We're talking about American Indians, right?

Your thinking the wrong way.
It is not about strengths and weaknesses, it's about balance and unity.

FOR A DEVELOPING COUNTRY,TO MEET THE NEED OF A LARGE POPULATION TO MAINTAIN BOTH QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF PRODUCE IS DIFFICULT.SECONDLY,LOWERING OF WATER TABLE AND LACK OF IRRIGATION WATER AND FACILITIES.THIRD INADEQUATE FACILITIES,MACHINERY,TECHNOLOG... ACCEPTANCE OF TECHNOLOGY BY FARMERS,LESS FACILITIES TO SCIENTISTS,LACK OF FUNDS ETC.MOREOVER.......DIFFERENT AGRO ECONOMIC CLIMATIC CONDITIONS VARY,RESISTANCE BREAKAGE AND FEASIBILITY OF GM CROPS IN AN AREA,PHYSIOLOGICAL CHANGES IN PATHOGENS AND NEW RACES EVOLUTION,PESTS AND INSECTS,WEEDS EVER COMPETING,DEPLETION OF NUTRIENTS IN SOIL,RISK AND UNCERTAINITYETC. ARE SOME PROBLEMS WHICH ARE DEALT AT DIFFERENT STAGES. SO THESE ARE THE WEAKNESSES.PROFIT AS I THINK IS FIRST THE STRENGHTH OF INDIAN FARMER TO FIGHT WITH IT,HELP PROVIDED BY AGRIL INSTITUTES,GOVT.INCREASED ATTENTION ON AGRICULTURE,LOANS FACILITIES TO FARMERS AGAINST RISK AND UNCERTAINITY,FARMERS MAKE THEIR HOUSEHOLD TECHNIQUES FOR EASY WORK AT FARMS,FARMERS HAVE STARTED REASONING,BREEDING PLANS BEING INTRODUCED,RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND EXTENSION SERVICES TO FARMERS,SOIL TESTING FACILITIES R NOW INTRODUCED AND OTHER INFORMATION TO B REQUIRED BY FARMERS R PROVIDED ON NET AND AT K.V.K.CENTERS.E-CHOUPAL IS ALSO HELPFUL.TECHNIQUES AND WATER HARVESTING PROJECTS ARE BEING TAKEN.
AND PATENTING OF INDIAN MATERIAL IS STILL FAR BEHIND AND SO THE THINGS GET PATENTED BY OTHERS AND INDIA LOSES.THATS WE WHO SHOULD THINK OF OUR HERITAGE AND UNIQUENESS.
