A hug and some special words of encouragement: Don't worry, she/he will be fine and will have such a good time! If you can, give her a little of your time, maybe coffee together, or a long walk to enjoy the fresh air and a chance to talk!

A pat on the back! I firmly beleive that mothers and children need time away from each other. My daughter has been in preschool since she was 2, and after her initial issues with being dropped off and picked up, she doesn't look back anymore. She is thrilled when I pick her up, and happy to go in the mornings! It's a great learning experience for the child, and it teaches them about detatchment and independence.
