Franklin Delano Roosevelt's lasting legacy was the restoration of the American vision under his "New Deal" programs.

"This is more than a political campaign," Roosevelt said. "It is a call to arms. Give me your help, not to win votes alone, but to win this crusade to restore American to its own people."

Social Security, as the first answerer stated, was the foremost FDR program. The only other program remaining to this day is the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

A remaining legacy of the new deal, however, are the thousands of public works projects completed under the "Emergency Relief Act of 1935," which provided $4 billion -- the largest amount ever appropriated up to that time -- for the employment of people. The program was called the "Works Progress Administration" or WPA.

You can do a little more research by doing a search of New Deal programs to find out more about what President Roosevelt accomplished to help people during his terms in office.
